well been reading a TON of info on bracing and figured i would be a good idea

i still need to clean up the welds
the points are left open
they are small but thick and i feel that they will do the trick
couldn't get one in the corner where the airbox would mount.  im still not 100% if i want to use the stock airbox and see if i can get a gusset behind the tab or just not run the stock box......

i really have a bad habit of that, but not these

i think someone gave them to me when i bought a parts bike or something.
they say they are for a super sport but then again the numbers cross to a 69-76
is there any difference between gasket sets for SOHC4s?

Looks good mate, but is that the only bracing you're doing Jag? Most of the CB750 race bikes I see have a horizontal tube brace between the front downtubes, and another one between the frame tubes behind the carbs.  You might have a problem fitting the OEM airbox with the rear brace in place. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

ive seen those two bars added and im not sure if i will be going that far.
not really looking to brace the bike for racing or going nuts, just looking to improve it alittle for some fun road use.

do you have any good pics of those braces that your talking about?

Yeah mate, any bracing has got to be good, I've got a frame here with the front brace so I'll take a pic, I chopped out the rear brace because I intended to make a better "X" brace, but I got distracted with something else, and didn't go any further. I'll shoot a pic and post it here. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Here's the pic mate, pretty simple brace, but it ties the two downtubes together nicely, and certainly adds to it's rigidity. Cheers, Terry. ;D

thanks for the pic terry.  does that interfere at all with the pipes?

also
im looking for some input on a fun street motor for this bike.
im looking for something that has alot of bang for the buck.

what are the stock carbs good to?  what about the rods?
i figure i would want to keep the stock rods and carbs as they are big ticket items.
not looking for something that will be braking all the time either

No worries mate, and no, the brace doesn't interfere with the headers. Cheap bang for your buck? Clean up the ports yourself, just to remove the casting marks and smooth everything out, lap in your valves and test them to ensure they're sealing properly, add an F2 cam, valve springs and carbs, (with a lighter return spring) NGK D7EA plugs and a Dyna S ignition with either Dyna or good OEM coils, and a good used Kerker 4 into 1 pipe, and you'll be happy. Cheers, Terry. ;D

ive been reading up on port matching.  i dont want to really "port" the head as i feel thats outside of what i can do and i also think it would be too much for my goals.  your talking more about a polish of the existing ports?
also what is better about the F2 cams and springs?
i have a set of carbs off a 76 and 78 cb750F  the 78 has an accelerator pump.
what makes those carbs better then the K1s?

im thinking that i want to run chris's yoshi pipe.
yes to the dyna
D7EA is stock or not?  whats the difference?

terry you have me on the edge of my seat here....lol
i really love to learn from the guys that have been around these motors

sitting at home today doing some sanding....i really hate this.....but the covers look sooo good when they are done.

also after some reading heres what im thinking for the motor
stock sized pistons.
lightened
-crank
-rockers
-rotor
blueprint the rods
peen the rods
port match the head
yoshi rep pipe
stacks

from what im reading that will make for one hell of a good running semi stock motor.

Okey dokey, I've added my answers in blue:

ive been reading up on port matching.  i dont want to really "port" the head as i feel thats outside of what i can do and i also think it would be too much for my goals.  your talking more about a polish of the existing ports? Yep, that's it mate, just remove all the casting marks and smooth the ports out for better flow.
also what is better about the F2 cams and springs? More lift and less valve bounce at high RPM.
i have a set of carbs off a 76 and 78 cb750F  the 78 has an accelerator pump.
what makes those carbs better then the K1s? No flat spots, and instant accelleration due to the pumps.
im thinking that i want to run chris's yoshi pipe. Yep, wait until his new one is made, I think it will be better than the ones he made for Carpy.
yes to the dyna.
D7EA is stock or not?  whats the difference? D7EA is one heat range hotter than stock, I use them in all my 750's and (especially with higher compression engines)they seem to work better than stock D8's, and were recommended to me by Hondaman.

Hey Jaguar,

You're doing great with all the polishing and attention to detail.

For the paint, classic black is the tried and true... Go Blue!  Or Red, or Orange or any damn color other than Black!  It's always a conflict because black looks so dang good.  What ever you choose will of course be great.

Keep it up!

sill havent figured out the colors.
frame is almost ready to have coated so i guess i really need to figure it out.
also going to order chains, gaskets, guides and more to get the motor ready

i messed with a soda blaster and had great luck cleaning up some carb parts on another build but im going to try that to clean up my head on this bike before i port match them
maybe i can get a local guy to "hot tank" them.

Also i have a surprise part on the way for this bike......guess what.....

Hey man,
Can you post the home made soda blaster plans? I am curious. Covers look good. I am too lazy to polish. I just use a wheel and tripoli. Anything more than that is toooooo much!! Good build. If you get it done we'll cruise around these country roads in the summer.
