is this KREEM??

I thought there was a baffle in the tank until i got a flashlight.  I pulled this out of tank.  The rest of tank looks similar.

Liner Side(is that a stalagmite or a stalactite?)



Tank Side (you can see the rust is pulled off)


Overall the bike is in ok condition, but i wonder what else i might find from the PO.  I am going to order the POR 15 tank repair.  I am counting on their stripper taking care of all the old liner.  I hope that I won't find any pinholes when redo the lining.  This project keeps getting interesting.

Yup looks like it to me, last tank I did came out grey using PORQ stuff but same result, works great and no complaints here.

take the tank to a radiator shop, they wil easily take care of the old liner. i dont think the por stripper will touch that.

MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) will remove it, just don't breathe the fumes, or you'll be out of action for a few hours...........  ;D

If you do find pinholes when you remove the liner, there is no reason to get worried...That is what por 15 is made for. IF you have no pinholes, theres no point of sealing it.

MEK, should that be available at a hardware store?


The only reason I'm concerned about pinholes is that the PO lined the tank for a reason.  i guess i won't know until i strip it.

Yeah mate, you can buy MEK from a good hardware store, or an auto paint shop. Your tank was lined for a reason, look at the rust that came away with the sealant! ;D

Kreem when applied is white.  I don't know if it changes color when you add gas but I don't think that stuff is Kreem.  Either way it is old tank liner.

Whatever it is ... it was not applied properly. It looks like the rust was not removed thoroughly before the liner was put in.

Thats not Kreme I've done one tank and even after the gas was applied it was still white. There is some old threads on here about prepping the tank. I used muratic acid and asitone when I did mine but there are better ways to do it. There a electro magnet trick that I've been wanting to try and the works toilet cleaner works to.
