Is this actually a k3 seat??
« on: October 30, 2010, 01:56:32 PM »
I am looking into picking up a seat this style for my 74 but the only other links I have seen show this style on 79+. Anyone verify if they made them for the k's? Or if I can use a 79 or 80 seat on my k4? thanks

It may have come off a wrecked K3 - but i don't think these were used on anything prior to late K7-8 timeframe. Not a nice looker in my opinionated mind...

That thing is so nasty, even the seller won't touch it without gloves on!  ;D
I don't think even the seat pan is K3 IMO.

So are the pans from a k3 close to the 79 and up?

There were many Honda models and variants form 1980 to about 1983 that used this general style of seat.  My only advice to pinpoint exactly what it's from is to keep searching ebay for original honda seats from say 79-84 and look for an exact match on the style of the cover.

Is it from a CB750K4?  Definitely not.  Can you make it work? Maybe but you'll want lots of measurements before knowing.  Hinges and maybe latches are available from a forum member if you search

They do look very similar, I just want to know if it would work on my k4 without too much hassle.

You'd have to mount hinges and the latch spike in the correct locations, and the seat would have to actually fit a 750K4's frame (tough order since it came from something else)

Having owned numerous CM400's, that seat fits the bill for that model. Looks to me like a seat from a 81 CM400 custom.

That was my first instinct too, but then I took a look around and in 1980 cb650, cb750, seats were mounted like that.  CB900's and 550 nighthawks were too.
