ok it fits!

So we've got...

2010 harley dyna rim with dual rotor mount holes (using harley sealed bearings that came with rim)
2004 gsxr1000 forks and calipers (painted calipers black)
Hayabusa 320mm rotors, redrilled hole pattern with 11/32" bit
hubcentric rings made to center rotors
stainless cover plates to hide old holes. (The old holes exposed "chambers" in the hub. I didn't want water getting in there).
5/16" x 8 x 1" grade 8 bolts for rotors, torqued to HD spec of 16-24ft lb with loctite
 10mm Caliper spacers  and m10 x 1.25 x 70(?) caliper bolts, grade 8
.712 axle spacers, found them for sale as rear harley axle spacers. width might have been different by a couple thousandths. I can't remember the part number off hand.

Next up...

754 is turning my new stem

Going to weld new brackets on the cb fender to fit up

Really have enjoyed your build Elan, I just read through it. I appreciate the information on the front end swap, I've just snagged a TL1000R front end on ebay for $150 complete with clip-ons, triples, and brakes so I am also hoping to get spoked wheels working with it....I'm considering going to supermoto 17" wheels so I can run sport-bike sized tires, might require I fabricate a custom rear swingarm however.....

Thanks. Ya sounds like you got a good deal.  Have you looked into the stem dims yet? as you probably noticed, mine was the right bearing dims but too short. I toyed with some options, but am having a new stem spun from 7075al. Do you have a build thread?

I kind of have a build thread....I stopped updating it becuase it had seemed no one was paying attention or interested anymore. The front end is still in transit, should be here monday. I've not measured stem dims yet, but I am actually more concerned with offset....based on the pictures, I think I might have to cut some custom trees anyways, so if I have to do that in order to keep trail in check, I'll just make them utilize the factory 550 stem and I'll press that in to my custom trees.

behold!

SPecial thanks to 754 for making this beautiful stem! Its so nice I hate to cover it up. THis is going to give me the right height for mounting onto the CB head.  Going to press it into the lower triple tomorrow and should have this project moving quickly now.

Also been working on this guy for a buddy....

stem pressed and fitted. I also tapped the lower triple to fit  the duc monster headlight bracket.  Speedo is ordered.  Got a nice fender, but need to make some brackets for it.  Also need to balance the tire.

Im surprised the clipons sit a good two inches higher that the old clubmans. Should be a better posture. Gotta learn how to tune these forks...

Just got the new speedo/tach. Its a GPS speedo, and the tach gets its signal from the coils. I had them put the honda logo in it, and they moved the tach up to 10k, ya know, just incase ;D  I love how thin it is too.

Think I should keep the stainless plate as is or powdercoat it black?? Seems like it gets dirty fast.

It also records you 1/4 mile, 0-60, altitude, average speed, and a bunch of other stuff i'll use once ;D

The speedo looks nice and clean. The tach is a little small for my taste at least.

Could anodize it gold to match the forks.

Build looks great, just found your thread, good stuff.  Impressive.

Thanks guys.

Gold is an option, but I want to avoid any long turnarounds, and I'm not sure how close the match would be...

The speedo is from speedhut and wasn't cheap, over three bills.   A few times a year they have 20% off, and it has a lifetime warranty.

Sweet gauge. Pretty cool that they can just put the Honda logo in there for you.

I think I would go with black powder coat on the plate. You don't want atention drawn to the gauge holder you want your eye to go to the purdy gauge and lights! At least those are my thoughts. On the other hand I'm terrible at trying to envision how these things will actually look when they're done. ha

Have you hooked up the speedo/tach yet?  Are you using the stock ignition system?  Wondering how their tach works (if if will work) with the stock wasted spark system or not...

Lookin' awesome!!!

Edit:  found their installation instructions online, looks like the tachs are completely programmable for all different types of ignition systems.  Just need to match it to the original gauge and that's it!

Thanks!

Havent hooked up the speedo yet, doing a bunch of rewiring first. Ya you can program it to just about any engine as I understand.  My ignition is a pamco and ultimate coils. Should wire to one of those wires... ;D

Its an expensive gauge but it is very good quality and waranted till you sell it. Im eager to see id the speedo gps ever "kicks out"

35/40w huh? so then no need for a relay? Im already setting up a relay but i like the idea of less draw on the charging system than this 55w I have...
