  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I saw that John and I thought "Geez, if I had a blower on my beastie, I could be dead in 3 months, so I wouldn't ever have to make a payment!" how's that for "sticking it to the man"? Ha ha, Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry, weren't you going to sell your kidney to raise some extra cash, or did you do that already to buy that tombstone taillight? ;D

Terry, I have looked at your handy work and I am sure your coolers are worth every penny.

Hi Terry, I certainly looks nice! Is this guy right when he says that the supercharger does not increase engine hp, only torque?

Seems a bit odd to me.

Looking at a 1976 edition of motorcyclist magazine, an American Turbo-pak kit was $995 for Hondas or Kwakas. The sticker price of the mag was $1, now $10 or so, that would make the turbo kit $9950 in todays money!

Now that supercharger looks very cheap!

Cheers,

Neil.

Thanks Breezey, any excuse to put me off buying it is good right now, I'm dreaming of a blown engine in my racer lately, and three months payment free is very, very, tempting! Oh boohoo, life is so cruel............... :'(

I'm having trouble believing that little screw can put 10psi out at 8k rpm on the engine.
I'm also having trouble believeing that if it did, the stock block and internals can handle 10psi. That would be (with estimated losses) about 43 more HP out of a stock 750. I don't know if thats reasonable. (110ish hp from an aircooled 750?)
Dunno.
No.

I don't know about that guy's story either.  Looks a little rough for never being on a bike, or it has been stored outside by the looks of all the oxidization.  I'd rather have a turbo, faster and less bulky.  I don't know how a bike could stay cool enough to run boost on it.  I thought watercooled bikes were the only option for that.

BMW ran a super on their 500cc boxer back in um... late 1930's I think. Was called (what else) the Kompressor. Was faster than anything in it's class (weighed around 350ish lbs wet), and was, of course, air-cooled. A boxer twin has some cooling advantages over inline air-cooled engines, as both cylinders are out there catching as much wind as the fins can grab. Of course, I believe that compression was lowered from the regular 500cc as well.
The problems with the aforementioned charger is a) it's size and b) the stock 750 is pretty much tuned to within 10% to 15% of it's upper limit stock, in terms of power and integrity, as far as I can tell (which could be really off, since I've never seen what I can get out of a honda 750 four.)
No.

      Hey Terry,

I can see why you'd want the supercharger, I mean it's bolt-on power increase and the look
that goes with it. Of course, to properly use it, you'd need to be sure your engine was up to snuff.
Sure wouldn't want to waste a good engine. I think it would be something to have to be able to
experience the extra power now and then myself. But, I just keep dreaming. If I was able to go
after something like that on ebay, some turkey would outbid me, so it's just as well. Good luck with
what ever you do. Later on, Bill ;)

Ah, not a biggie, on closer inspection I realised that it'd only mess with my beautiful ARD magneto, (thanks Sean, it arrived yesterday) so instead I'm gonna look for a nice set of period race carbs, maybe some twin throat Webbers or Dellorto's, anyone got a set lying around gathering dust? Cheers, Terry. ;D
