I know this is probably early but how many will be coming in through Ashfork towards the meet up at Crookton Rd. with the Denver's crew?

4/24 - Duncan to Phoenix/Prescott
4/25 - Phoenix/Prescott to Kingman
4/26 - Kingman and San Diego to Joshua Tree for meet-up then to Rosamond
4/27 - Rosamond to San Luis Obispo
4/28 - San Luis Obispo to San Francisco
4/29 - San Francisco to Fernley, NV
4/30 - Fernley, NV to Baker, NV

So like this then? That's some serious Iron Butt status there Scottly! :o I hope you take a turn in the chase vehicle.

I have confirmed with track management that you guys can take a lap around the big track. They said "unescourted" if you promise not to hot lap it.

Any idea how many?

Weather permitting I plan on camping at the track for the AHRMA event, then heading back to the Bay Area with the rally. The only thing that would stop me is unforseen issues with the newly rebuilt engine. I'll be breaking it in over the next couple weeks, and hope to have it tuned and jetted to make the round trip.

Do you have a head count yet on riders who are confirmed for this leg of the ride, Matt?

Matt, shenanigans will bring Godzilla up to me from PHX around noon, 4/25. From there I will head north to meet up with the Denver's folks at Ashfork, and proceed to Kingman. About 160 miles for me. The next day, from Kingman to JT by 1:00 Pm might be a bit of a push, but hopefully Kslrr will have joined up in Kingman, and some of the Kingman riders will escort us as far as Parker, AZ. That will be a 230 mile day. It will be 300 plus miles from JT back home. Man, I'm so thinking about volunteering to drive the San Diego chase rig from JT to Willow Springs, even beyond. It's the thought of getting back across the desert solo that holds me back...

I'm planning on doing most, if not all. I can't do an overnight so I'll likely have to meet up somewhere (like maybe Camel-ish).

I'm not allowed to take off from work at all during April/May/June  >:( so I won't know for sure whether I'm in til the very last minute - like the night before. It's likely that one of my kids is going to have to have a sudden, acute "illness" on the day-of.

I figured on back-tracking to Parker, then down 72 to Hope, up 60/71 to Congress, and then 89 to Prescott.

It'll be Easter weekend, April 22-24th. I'm going to have to figure a way to kill a few days in LA while waiting for the rally.

You might consider riding southeast to meet the relay, instead of southwest into the Smog Pit.. ;)

Folks, looks like I may be riding solo from Parker, AZ to Joshua Tree as well as back home. Kayjohn, any chance of further support from the Kingman crew on 4-26? I'm thinking it may be better to forget about Oatman and just git er done.

By all estimates it looks like Wednesday the 27th, but I'm pretty skeptical that there will be no delays between now and then....

I am planning on the hand-off early afternoon in Joshua Tree 4-26, so you guys should be in Willow late afternoon that day.

Ok, the 26th.  But that's assuming you get Godzirra when you expect to.

Check this out y'all.  New member Diirk, who unfortunately is going to be out of town during the relay, lives right by Willow Springs.  He has spent a bunch of time on the roads in the vicinity and suggested a route for us.  It looks pretty damn good to me.  About 6 hours of great riding, ample fuel stops, little slab time.  Whatdoyathink?

"Here's my idea with the following assumptions.
1. You're arriving at Willow Springs after coming from JT and spending the night after riding the track.
2. You leaving for SLO the following morning.

Hotel Recomendation: Homewood Suites on the 14 fwy near Jethawks Stadium in Lancaster at Avenue I.

Leaving for SLO:

Head west on Avenue I. Go left at 110th Street. (opportunity to go up Ave I a little further and visit the Poppy Preserve)
Take 110th Street into the hills. Changes to Johnson Rd then to Elizabeth Lake Rd. (Opportunity to visit the Rock Inn. Well known biker stopover and has great Tritip sandwhiches.)
Just past the Rock Inn make a left on Lake Hughes Rd. Stay on until the 5 Fwy. Go south, exit 126 west towards Ventura.
In Santa Paula, go right on the 150 to Ojai. Just past Ojai go right (north) on the 33 towards Maricopa. This will drop you out on the 166.
Go left (west) on the 166 to the 101. Hop the 101 north and you're about 30 miles from SLO.

Fuel Stops:
Lancaster
Lake Elizabeth
126/5 junction
Santa Paula
Ojai
Cuyama/New Cuyama on the 166
101"
