Noise from clutch area?
« on: February 08, 2011, 03:54:12 PM »
Got my bike started this weekend....YAY! This was my first time hearing a 750 run. Overall sounded great. Although there was a noise (on the loud side) coming from the clutch area. When I pressed on the clutch lever it mostly went away. Intitially sacred me b/c it almost sounded like a rod knocking. But the sound somewhat went away when I pressed on the clutch lever....is this normal...if not...whats the fix?

Thanks guys!

Normal on our bikes.... the only thing that will quiet it down some is a carb vacuum sync. A carb sync. will even-out the firing pulses of each cyl. and lessen the rattling of the clutch plates.......
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Even with a carb synch you will lessen the noise. It will always be there. People have tried fixes, but it seems to be inherent in the design. So after you synch do not be disappointed.

Yeah, that idling bucket of bolts rattle is our theme song, even with a finely tuned bike. Guess it's the counterpoint to the amazing synchronicity we enjoy so much at high revs!
