Put on my new Cycle-X shocks (look great!) and did a road test.
Very stiff--almost rigid--but I'm not complaining.

What do you have those on? Will they fit a 750 F3? Are they $75ea or pair? I was just looking at those today and that was what went through my head. I think I'll get some of the black on black like yours.

They're on my '75F--$75 bucks--not pricey but look pretty good.

Yes, good shocks not only look good, but work well, especially if you select the right spring rate. Not an option with these.

These are the chinese emgo shocks.

They might work OK for a while on a bike that weighs as least 800 lbs.

The lowest preload setting is only a few degrees away from being a rigid strut. Highest preload, may as well use rebar and save your 75 bucks.

You do know you have them set on the highest preload, try turning the adjuster and let the spring move a bit.

How much do you weigh? If you're 160 lbs., that's kinda different than 220 in terms of how a shock behaves.

No difference, honestly, with these.

My friend who weighs over 200, on a 500ish lb bike, gets beat to crap with these things on. They are still too stiff even with his girlfriend on the back.

At the lowest setting.

They are adjustable for preload, that is not a spring rate which is only adjustable by using different spring, preferably of the correct rate.

You can probably source a correct length and lighter spring from a specialty spring shop. Springs usually aren't too expensive and it'll definitely make all the difference.

I haven't installed them yet, and doesn't matter anyways since my motor is in pieces again.

did notice that the bushings don't seem to fit on the stud on the frame, and the washers are too small also.
How did you guy's get them on?
I was going to try and find larger washers and bushing.....
I also don't like how they have plastic sleeves instead of metal.

The larger bushings will go on.
They just need to be "encouraged".

I'll mention this to Ken when I speak to him Mark. The old S&W Street Strokers were the same thing. Christ...it was nearly impossible to get the spring collar on.

If he fixes the spring rate then he'll get to see what the dampening is like. I imagine that will prove to be a real thrill too.

Well, people will always buy em, Mike. Someone needs shocks. Someone doesn't have a couple extra hundred to spend right now, but they do have 80.

They are gonna buy em. I mean, Ken has had to at least have tried them. He's too thorough to have not.

Ive got some progressive springs I need to change out for lighter springs, on the same shock.

Maybe I'll try shoving the progressives onto the emgo shocks and see what happens.

I just bought a set of these shocks as well. I was attracted by the lure of the price tag, and the fact that you can
get them in all black. So they showed up, and yeah, the old saying stands true, you get what you pay for.
My bike is nowhere near being put back together, but I can tell these babies are gonna make my baby elephant ride
like a haywagon. Especially after all the weight the bike is going to lose (and the fact that I way 160 lbs).

Progressive-brand springs are pretty cheap.

Like I said, I'll pop some on and see if they work. Could be a reasonable change-up.

75 for the emgo shocks, 75 or whatever for the progressive-brand springs, 150 bucks. About 70-80 dollars less than progressive shocks and springs together.

Like I said, I'll check when I get a chance.

I think everyone sells the same version of these Chinese shocks, priced around $100.
I think they're stiff as hell and don't really give a nice ride. Struts are as good a comparison as any.
And I think if you're talking about different springs with these things, you're really spending good money after bad.
