Coming out of the shadows
« on: March 05, 2011, 06:17:57 PM »
Well, I've been lurking around for a while and finally registered the other day. I guess the time has come to make an official "howdy".

I've always had a special place in my heart for the CB750 and I have my eye on one, I just have to wait until my FNL realizes he shouldn't ride his anymore. Its not run in a couple years so I know what I'm getting into but that's part of the fun. He's had a '77(?) 750K he got back in the early 80's and it only has around 8000 miles on it as of last summer.

I'm no stranger to a wrench, I've been restoring the early Honda V4s for about 10 years. My babys are an 83 V65 Magna and an 84 V65 Sabre. Over the last 10 years I've had about a dozen bikes and have enjoyed working on every one.

I'm trying to get info together for the day when I can get my hands on the CB. I'm a purist at heart so I know I'll have carbs to rebuild, mufflers to replace, of course tires, and a few other things. I've downloaded parts and service manuals and some other misc info as I've come across it.

Overall the bike is in pretty good shape with a Hondaline backrest and rack and he has a couple different shields that he's got hanging on the wall. The bad is its sitting, covered, in a shed. The rust isn't too bad at the moment but the longer it sits...

I live just south of Lexington KY but work in Lex. If you're in the neighborhood give me a shout.

Welcome,  V4s are awesome bikes-I had an 83 Interceptor that was a blast, sold it before I started getting hit with speeding tickets.Loved the exhaust sound...Larry

Thanks for the welcome.

I've had just about every version of the old V4s except an interceptor. At 6'4" I don't quite fit. I have ridden the 700, 750, 1000 and a highly modified Japanese model 750. While fun they just aren't my style.

I've ridden my father in law's CB750 several times and have tried to buy it from him even more times. At 73 years old he thinks he's going to chop off the remaining exhaust and do something with straight pipes. Heaven forbid! I think/hope it's only a matter of time before he comes to his senses.

Go Big Blue!
You won't make many friends outside of KY with a comment like that. ;D
