I have a sand blaster, but I'm not sure which type of media I should use. I want to get that dull aluminum finish. Similar to what the bikes aluminum parts came out of the factory. Any ideas?

I use glass bead, I think it is 80grit, cost about $20 at Harbor Freight and does not damage the aluminum...Larry

Ditto the glass bead, I've also used crushed walnut, but its not very aggressive.

I used glass beads from HF to good effect as well.

If you're going to paint aluminum parts aluminum oxide is another good option.

Medium soda takes the paint off well then a little white scotch brite removes the stains. It leaves it pretty smooth and satin looking. Works well on something you would polish too.
