1977 CB750F - Carb Rebuild Help
« on: March 13, 2011, 10:02:06 AM »
Hey guys, new to the forum here and was looking for some help.
I read somewhere that the 750F carbs have felt rings for the throttle and choke rails and i dont think i can see any on mine. the reason probably is that i didnt look close enough before i started cleaning the carbs with carb cleaner stuff.

I had tried to take as many photos for the rebuild prior to breaking them apart for cleaning but seems like i didnt take enough. I cant figure out how to put the throttle rails back on the carbs. Any way someone could either point me to a carb rebuild walktrhough or post some pictures? With the riding season coming close here in Iowa, i really would appreciate any help you guys could provide.

I did try to search the forums but couldnt find any good pictures for reference. Looking forward to hearing from you guys. Thanks!

Rebuilt mine on my 77 750F last summer. Not sure exactly what you mean by throttle rails though. Take a pic of the part and post it or send it to my email after you PM me. I have lots of pics and also have a spare rack of carbs so I can take more pics if needed.

The felt washers go on that shaft  see #18 that is not the part# but they go on that shaft you will have to make them 6ea. several post here on that. I think the choke shaft takes orings.

Amazingly i was able to put the carbs back together. Im not a pro but am mechanically adept so i was able to reverse engineer the carbs together. Anyway, while trying to take things apart i manage to break the adjuster bolt screw set 4 in the attached exploded view. Anyone know where i can get one of those? The only other option i can see is to get a bolt with a similar thread, cut it to proper length and press it onto the adjuster head from the original bolt. I'd rather not do that if i can purchase one. Maxspeed140, can you spare yours from your extra set?

Also, my carb pump diaphram didnt come with the rubber thingamajiggie as shown in this photo for a replacement part

Do i need this?
