Any advice would be much appreciated.

I've had one post on here about a year ago about the 73 cb350f I got two years ago. I now after having postponed the project due to the house fire and living in and out of hotels with two kids slowed me down. I know have a steady place to live and given that prices of fuel are somewhat on the rise and I spend an easy $500 a month as is I've decided to bring that 350 back to life and now my problem is in the transmission. The crankcase is still split open but when I switch gears once up and the gears spin free but the second time I shift up they may only rotate aprox 45 degrees then lock up. Any advice would be helpful. I don't have much experience but it's amazing how simple the rest of the engine is.
