"O" ring on base of cylinder on K2 CB750
« on: March 18, 2011, 08:52:28 AM »
After soda blasting the cylinder and head I washed them in my dishwasher (I have a motorcycle friendly wife). A 2mm "O" ring between the sleeve and the fin casting has started to appear on the back side where they join at the bottom of the cylinder assembly. This is my first piston ring job so I have never noticed this "O" ring before. I am planning on removing any remnants and going ahead without them.

BTW, I don't recommend the dishwasher because the aluminum now has a white oxide on it and the liners have flash rust.

Comments about the "O" rings?

There was a long thread on this recently, more about the ORing on an overbored cylinder, yours is stock size, but same issue. Bottom line is you can run without them.
