how to route fuel lines for 750k tanks
« on: May 31, 2011, 10:17:27 AM »
Hey guys I have a 76 750F and I bought an older style K series tank, anyhow the new tank mounts up perfectly but the petcock is on the opposing side now, on top of that the F series came with a single outlet petcock and the K series petcock that I have has two outlets.  Was wondering if any of the K owners could either take a picture of how the fuel lines are routed or explain this to me in detail.  I'm thinking that I'm going to need a splitter, but which line does what?  Is one line specially made to be for the reserve?  Any responses would be appreciated, much thanks in advance.

Nothing special to it that I am aware of.  One outlet goes to the inlet between the 1-2 carb and the second outlet goes to the inlet between 3-4.

The petcocks with one outlet utilized a "T" splitter.

The routing will be obvious when you start.  From the inlet between the carbs, go up through the hole in the carb mounting plate, run the hose across it to the petcock.

What is key is the length of the hoses, start with a hose that is obviously too long by a couple of inches and then start trimming it back a little at a time.  Too long and the hose will kink.  If the hose is too long by even as little a 1/2" it will cause the hose to bow upwards.  You want it to run flat.
