Frame clearancing
« on: June 06, 2011, 07:43:46 PM »
So I have a custom oil tank going in between my back frame rails under my seat.  I have incorporated an oil sight on the left side, but the bottom bung is slightly "overlapped" by the frame.  This means I can't get a 90 degree NPT fitting on there without hitting the frame.

My question is does anyone have a "low profile" way of attaching ansight tube, like a flat 90 degree fitting, or maybe a short barbed fitting?

Would clearancing the frame be an option?  If so, what is required to maintain the integrity of the original frame??  Thanks a bunch guys!

I would relocate the fpt hole on the tank before I'd risk welding the frame.

I don't know if that's a real option.  I had the tank made, And I don't know how much work that would require...

Any fitting options?

Also, I was thinking of a barbed fitting and if it were cut down and the a hose could be clamped down.  I might be able to get it to fit, hopefully!!

Could you post a picture? Although, I can imagine what you are describing a picture would help.

What size is the pipe thread? You can buy pretty compact 90 degree brass fittings.
