q's on oil lines & sprockets
« on: April 24, 2006, 08:24:12 AM »
hey all. coupla questions...

1) one of my oil lines has a small leak, I'm 90% sure its from the fitting at the engine. can this just be recrimped, or does it have to be replaced?

2) at 55 mph, in 5th gear, I'm turning at 4k RPM's. how much smaller of a rear sprocket can I go to where at 55 I'm only turning, say, 3K?

thanks for any replies,
andy

I suppose I should go downstairs and count the teeth on my sprockets, but does that MPH/RPM sound right? as it is now, I'd be a little weary of even doing 70 for longer than a minute or two?

Andy, these bikes were made to rev relatively high.  You're barely in your power band at 3-4k.  Don't be afraid to push the RPMs.

so, as long as the air is flowing to keep it cool, its ok to run it at higher RPM's, sweet!

thanks!

My 400F is doing 6500 at 70 and 7K or so at 80.  No worries here mate!!!

At 55, she's "barely ticking over" at around 5K give or take a few hundred.
