I know I can't choose one yet. I like them all.

Pictures and stories will sway the vote folks. Last BOTM proved that!

Maybe shoot some pics and/or video this month like y'all would do for the SOHC on the road thread. Besides, you can never have enough of those.

I brought home my 1978 CB750 F3 on 9/11/10. It was a non running and non titled bike in decent shape. I actually traded it for a pistol I had so the price was right. I had no idea that the F2/F3 models were the bastards of all the SOHC 750's but it didn't take me long to figure out! My original plan of getting the bike home and running got scrapped and by the end of the first day she was nothing but a pile of parts.

Once I had everything broke down I dug in and started blasting, cleaning, polishing, and inspecting everything. Overall the parts I had were in good shape.

Once the cleaning and blasting was finished I had EVERYTHING powdercoated

Then the fun part of putting everything together started!

Then I started on the top end. I had Cycle X install new valves, guides, springs, seals, do some mild porting. They also bored my jugs for the Wiseco 836 kit and I picked up a Webcam 41B. Then I painted the top end with some high temp PPG polyurethane.

Made a seat pan

Almost forgot! This was money well spent. The Gordon Frame Kit. Thanks Hednut!

Then I had Larry lay down some sweet paint.

tweakin came over and helped with the top end

Got a SWEET deal here on the classifieds for this Yamiya pipe

Finally got her on the road with thanks to this forum and all the people I have met because of it!

I have to say it was a no brainer for me. I voted for Johnie. While the other bikes are beautiful; Johnie's is an exact replica of the very first bike I ever road on. My dad owned the exact model and color Cb750 and hoisted me up at age 3 on the seat in front of him and would cruise up and down the block at breakneck speeds of up to 10 miles per hour. Needless to say he was in his early twenties and it probably wasn't the rightest thing in the world to do, but I never forgot it. Its also the first bike I injured my self on. He parked it in front of my grandmother's house one day while I was out on the front lawn. I thought the pipes looked so shiny and inviting I just had to wrap my hand around them. My dad had just ridden home from work or where ever the hell he went. I NEVER forgot THAT either. Hot exhaust and toddler hands DON'T MIX. It was no doubt the final reason my mom gave him to sell it.

ANYWAY...That's why I chose it...still love that color AND the bike.

Thanks so much. I love your bike and hopefully someday I will own a stocker half as nice!  One thing I have learned on this site and during my build was how to appreciate a classic bike in stock form. NICE bike!

I’ve always been a fan of the big twin ‘scramblers’ of the 50/60s and I guess they were the inspiration for this project – that and some of the bikes from Deus Ex Machina.
Regarding the build itself, no matter what part of the project I was tackling I was always searching the pages of this site for hints, tips and those so valuable pics!
Right from the start I liked the shape of the K7 tank and decided to keep it, but I welded up the crazy fuel flap and add a monza cap. The seat is a race moulding intended for a Yam SRX600. I just loved its sleek lines and the way its curves match the tank - just knew it had to be part of this build. The CR specials are a bit of an extravagance I guess, but I had some cash left over after selling a car, so I thought what the hell. They do give the bike that performance look, not to mention the few more b.h.p. they provide - especially with the race can. The  motor is standard and I’ve only refreshed it with new rings and all the chains/tensioners. Though I did spend quite some time smoothing and matching the ports.
Wheels are alloy rims with stainless spokes, 18 inch front and rear to keep the retro look. Tyres are a bit controvertial for road use, I guess. But they say ‘scrambler’ more than any other tread pattern. So for that reason alone, I chose 'em. They’re Bridgestone ‘Trail Wing’ which are supposed to be a dual-purpose tyre, and so far they work just fine (I don’t ride in the rain!)

Anyhow, just got back from a ride where I took these latest pics:

Best regards
Steve

definitely some stiff competition this month!  i'm honored to be in such great company.  :)  this is my first build, and i'm pretty pleased so far.  my goal was a nice & tasteful cafe build.  something that was different from the rest of the cafe bikes around, but not too over the top or cliche.  and, i didn't want to break the bank or piss off the wife.  so far so good. :)

here's a brief checklist of the work done on the bike, along w/ some pics...

-initial oil change (10w-40), air filter, spark plugs (NGK D8EA)
-completely cleaned carbs (the simple green method)
-softened carb boots (xylene & wintergreen method)
-new side covers from LPM Replicas
-new metal headlight bucket from a 1977 GL1000
-replaced lots of rusty nuts, bolts & springs with SS components (Ace Hardware)
-added clip-ons, then replaced those w/ clubmans
-new headlight bracket
-new horn
-new grips (gran tourismo style)
-completely rebuilt front and rear brakes (new seals, SS lines, EBC pads), and did a dual disc conversion
-shaved off old seat mounts, lock & helmet holder
-replaced the tail section w/ Carpy’s version (back when he was nicer?)
-molded new seat (camping mat method), and had it upholstered
-side-mount license plate & brake light (currently partially working)
-completely rebuilt front suspension (new OEM seals, oil, hardware, Progressive springs)
-rebuilt & painted gauges (decals from ebay, repainted needles by hand)
-lowered the gauges (flip gauge mount upside-down and add spacers method)
-painted the frame, triple tree, forks, etc w/ Duplicolor rattle can paint & clearcoat
-took multiple dents (large and small) out of the tank
-painted the tank, gauges, tail, headlight, fender, side covers w/ Duplicolor copper red mica (a Mazda color), Duplicolor for the cream stripes, then lots of Spraymax 2K clearcoat
-had new decals made for all the badges (thanks @myhondas!), then clear coated
-painted the headers and exhaust with VHT paint
-painted the Lesters with Duplicolor engine enamel and clearcoat

Some realy good looking bikes this month but The Urban Scrambler gets my vote.
The only change I would make (and that's just my prefference) is a narrower section front tyre.
Another thing to watch out for Steve,..... traffic wardens, your parked on double yellows. ;D ;D ;D ;D
