First off, I know the tech forum isn't really the place for this; but I always come here and post here~ ~ ~ ~~I feel like I know the people here.
Just got home from the hospital. Going down MY street, 1/4 mile from home at 40 MPH. Woman in a car pulls out from side street right in front of me. Shut down the gas, hit the brakes, down shift; ain't gonna work; plow into the driver's side front end......... up over the bike onto her car hood at an angle and in through the front window glass. Black out and come to with a woman staring right into my face; her mouth open screaming and eyes bigger than saucers; strange thing is I can't hear any sound coming out of her throat. Stranger yet, the face shield on my helmet isn't broken. Paramedics, cops show up real quick.
She's got no insurance; and oh, by the way officer, she has no driver's license.
The medics won't let me move at all. Keep still 'til we find out if your head and neck are still connected.
By the time the docs start moving me around onto a stretcher, the bike is gone, already towed away. Didn't even get a glimpse of it to find out if it's savable. Cops and docs say forget it, it's wasted. A witness in a car which was right behind me who saw everything, called my wife. She ran from the house (literally; by foot) to the scene. She said it really didn't look too bad.
I don't know. Can I find out tomorrow at the impound yard?
Banged up and bloody, but no broken bones. The Original Super Power was with me on this one.
I hate to sound like some kind of movie character, but the truth is guys, my very first thought when I knew impact was unavoidable............ NO, LADY, DON'T WASTE MY 750!!!
I'll let you guys know the results when I see my sweetheart in the impound yard. I will miss all of you if I no longer have a 750 K4............ only 24,000 miles, all original (and, yes, in reference to a recent post, even the chain and sprockets).
