1974 CB350F1 Triple tree replacement
« on: June 28, 2011, 04:07:33 PM »
OK, heres the deal:

I did a nasty by switching the plates from my 750 to my 350. As I was riding (and it rode beautifully), I noticed the front shimmied a little as I was slowing down.

Further inspection uprooted a problem. (as pictured in the 1st photo)

The delemia:

I purchased another triple tree.
The Honda parts site and Bikebandit.com does not show any type of spacer or flat washer, as I've heard other forum members refering to.

Question:

Should I put a shim/washer in there and if so, where can I buy one?

please see all pictures, and any help/suggestions/chewings is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jack

I've heard this a few times now. I'm pretty sure they all require a spacer.
1972 350f rider: sold
1972 350f/466f cafe: for sale
1977 CB400f cafe:sold
1975 CB400f rider: sold
1970 CB750 K0 complete bike: sold
2005 Triumph Sprint ST 1050 rider

We've got to cut it off... and then come down on rockets.  (quoted from: seven minutes of terror)

I reiterate, where can this spacer/washer/shim be acquired from?

A Honda dealer?  You'd be surprised what is still available from Honda.  The first hurdle might be the dealer just saying it's NLA without even checking.  If that happens, make him check.  It's a quick query on the Hondanet system online.

They stop using the spacer around 76? You can make your own.
MCRider had a nice thread on it last year you still need to go easy.
