well we just decided to save all hard feelings . just put it on ebay seperated this partner ship and move on . my partner does not do allot mechanical but he does all ebay and paypal stuff plus boxing and shipping and that is all time consuming . he told me to give hime a fair price for his half but i feel he has only got 300 dollars in it and about 8 hrs of work on this bike . i feel he thinks he has all that plus all the time he spent ebaying for the 550 parts . wich he does but i spent hrs also tearing and cleaning those parts up. but it all leads to this he feels it will go for for more than 3000 if so dont know if i will pay half that plus what i already have in it. I really wish i would have just done this myself not that i have not enjoyed and appriciated the time and help with him but . at the end if i did it myself it would be mine.

hey guys the stock muffler on my f has two hole rusted in so i found one to put on it . here is the question first off there is a clamp that holds it the frame got those bolts out then there is a bolt and i don't know what the thing is that holds the muffler to the headers how do you get the other stud/rivet out then when you do get that off does the muffler just slide out or is  there a spot weld or anything else. and if i do take it off is the muffler gasket going to be usable again

I am scratching my head over the muffler removal too.  I know it has been done but I am not sure how.  I can see how the one bolt can be loosened but the other?????

well srust i got the other out grabbed it on the back side with a pair of vice grips and got loose but i messed up the threads a little.  i then got ahold of the bolt/stud/rivet/i dont know what it is on the front side and turnrd it out . I have no clue what honda was thinking here besides . never never will anyone get this apart. The bad thing is i dont want to pull it apart and mess up the muffler seal so not sure if its worth pulling apart. man srust i fell kinda good stumping you lol

Fatkid,

I've been trying to actually figure out what you're referring to and it makes no sense to me. I'm on the road so I don't have mine to look at. Could you post up some pictures before you do some irrepairable damage that we can not help with?

I've got two factory F0/F1 exhausts here and I don't understand your issue either.

OK, I see what you are talking about.  You only have to loosen the front bolt to get the muffler off.  After the bolt is loose, get a chunk of hardwood to use for a drift and a single jack hammer and knock the muffler back off the header.  It will be stuck on there pretty good if it has been there since 1976 when Soichiro installed it.  (It is a well known fact that Soichiro Honda was so enamored of these first 750F's that he insisted on doing much of the assembly on these models himself.)  But it will come off.  I just took the one off in the pictures as a demo.  It has been on there for decades and only took a couple of minutes.

That makes me happy, I wanted to see that bike stay here on SOHC.  I am jealous.  That is my second favorite Honda next to the 400f....bonus points for the Sulfur Yellow!!!!

Mine is just like you describe fatkid but now that ofreen explained how it comes off with only the one bolt needing to be loose all is well.  Just so you know that the muffler does have one small drain hole on the bottom of the widest part of the muffler.
