No, not the cool Vancouver, the other one, in Washington.

I was recently bit by the 400F bug.  A friend of mine who had been looking to upgrade from his 160 twin found one on Craigslist and asked if I'd go look at it with him.  It appeared to be in pretty good shape, with the fuel drained before storage and everything there, though there were a couple of scratches on the dynamo cover, a ding in the header and a hole rusted through the exhaust.  On the bright side, the tank looked damn near brand new, had no rust inside, ignition had been upgraded to a Dyna, and the bike only had 15k on the clock.

As my friend is still learning the ins and outs of motorcycles, he brought it over to my house to get it back on the road.  We changed the oil, rebuilt the carbs, set cam chain tension (which required unsticking the tensioner mechanism) and adjusted the valves.  Exactly one kick of the lever later and the bike was running and sounding great.  My buddy ditched the original tires for some Avons and now has a great rider!

Anyways, after getting things back together, I was able to take the bike for a spin.  I'm addicted.  I have to have one.   While I haven't found one yet, I've started saving and searching for my project.  If you happen to have a good base for a project, even if it's just a titled frame, I'd love to hear about it.

Currently my other bikes are a GS1100 and a Honda CJ360, so I think a mid-displacement I4 will fit in nicely.

Great site you have here, with a wealth of information.  I look forward to exchanging ideas and banter with you all, and if you want, I've got a great crepe recipe.

Welcome to the forum

The 400f is an amazing bike.  I took mine out for a long ride today and I am constantly amazed how well it runs considering it's 35 years old.  Hat's off to Japanese engineering.  Enjoy the bike.
