Topic: Halcyon mirrors

 I've GOT to do something about the mirrors on my CB500. They've never been great, but after fitting the 400F bars they're nearly worthless. I have to crane my neck to see past my elbows and they vibrate madly at speed.

 My only conundrum is that I prefer something that is stock, or at least period, appearing. No billet, etc., for me.

 I've tried what I thought were used Honda mirrors, aftermarket replacements, Super Bike style, etc. and they all are about the same....poor or ugly.

 I'm considering Halcyon bar end mirrors. They're chrome, round, and available in two sizes; 75mm and 95mm (about 3" and 3.75"). They're not cheap, but are very well made compared to the Taiwan stuff.
 One other possibility are some "AP Ken Sean" mirrors. These are the cheaper style, but they come with a rubber insert/expander for the handle bars and shouldn't slip as much as the really cheap ones.

It would cost me $114 plus shipping from the UK for the stainless steel Halcyon's, or I can get the Ken Seans for $43 shipped.....but I don't want to keep wasting money on crappy mirrors, either.

I bought some Napoleon Baren knock-offs on ebay.  They were about half the price of the Napoleons for about half the quality.

The Halcyons look cool.  The only thing I don't like about bar-end mirrors is how wide they make your bike.  I had some CRG lanesplitters on my last bike.  They fold in when not in use.  They were very high quality.

 The halcyons have a spring mechanism inside that allows you to fold them in.

Thanks for posting this... I think I'm going to order a set of the halcyons.  I also installed a 400F bar (on my cb750) and I don't care for the black, square, bar end mirrors I have.  I bought them on BikeBandit or DennisKirk a while back and have had problems with the throttle side twisting around.  I also don't like how their look doesn't go with the rest of the bike.

Sounds to me that you already made your decision, based on some of your statements:

I suspect you won't regret spending the extra $70 dollars.

i run those s.s halcyon mirrors on my black bike, top notch quality imo
  almost no vibration at any speed, i can actually see behind me!!
    they are a little spendy but worth it

I just got a set of his grips. I'll be installing them over the weekend, I'll let you know how the work.

Bar end mirrors will definitely help with visibility around your arms, I had them on my Enfield with clubman bars. But they might not help the vibration issue.

 I went with the Halcyon's. Randakk's is on vacation...I'l order the grips when they get back.
