In 1972 I put an American Turbo Pak kit on anew CB500. I then proceeded to redline the tach in high gear. Over the years I've had that turbo on 3 or 4 different 500/550s. It has spent the last 25 years or so in a box but now I'm in the middle of putting it back on the road on a CB500K2. My avatar is a pic of where my progress stands at the moment.

I would like to see more pictures of that...

I tried to send a couple of pics but this forum doesn't like the size I'm using and I'm not computer literate enough to know how to make them able to send. If you want to PM me your e-mail I can send them directly to you.

Wife and I easily hit an indicated 91 on the OBX bridge today. I was watching for deer...  ::)  Didin't realized it until I looked down to check after zipping away from a few cars. My speedo is very close to actual do to rear sprocket change. Fastest I've in awhile, not intentional, bike is smooth enough didn't seem fast.

Keeping with teh old car theme, this was my old 1949 ford (if image link works)

Wooden floors, 1L sidevalve engine, crossply tyres, no seatbelts, cable brakes and 'vintage' stearing :)

After a fair bit of engine work i had 85mph out of it. Had a little more to give, but was pinking its tits off so backed it down.

Thought some of you may like the pic :)

Nice Anglia, definitely a fan. Here's a couple shots of my 59. Left hand drive...front end and body are original...that's about it.

Waved goodbye to the 1.3L engine and opted for a 289 mustang engine...bored out to a 302 with high compression pistons.

Have to replace the front end, finish the wiring, and install a fuel tank to get her on the road again. Running open headers right now, so I may address that as well...she's a little loud. She was running 10.8 quarter miles last time on the track...I'm hoping to get her under 10.5 when I'm done.

Best gift my dad ever gave me...hoping to blow the doors off his 32 Ford when I'm finished. :)
...that is a killer car!
If it works good, it looks good...

Simpson, the sprockets make no difference to the speedo at all, it drives off the front wheel. You could put a 60 tooth rear and only have a top speed of 80 but the speedo is reading exactly the same as it would with stock gearing....

Sorry I have not read the whole thread, but while a friend and I have been out riding for years; when we get on a good stretch of road I may niggle 90-100 when he blows by me on his punched out 1150 Kwaker, a 1974 900 and later says he 's just blowin' the carbon out.Its all about the condition of the machine and the rider  8)

WTF?  I had my brand  new 78 CB550K almost everyday at 100mph (and more) .   Some times you get the high speed wobbles.  Pretty scary, but I would just push hard as I could on both  sides of handlebars
on my third CB550k  Bought brand new 1978,  used 1977, used 1978 current bike  4635 original miles now

bloody hell lads i did 100 in my van on my way home from work this week! ive done the ton on my 550 f2 and it was not pleasant. i only did it so i could say i had but to be honest apart from being a bit of a white knuckle job (and uk roads are v,busy) it didnt feel like the thing to be doing on a 30 odd year old bike!!! the old bugger has earned a bit more respect than that...
