I 'm running unifilters on my wee 650, only go down the pod route if you are willing to experiment a lot. either of those would be ok, but there isn't much room between the carbs and frame rails, so keep that in mind.

Some one on the 650 site just joined and has those K&N's on his bike.  I'm interested in a set.    I have run Unies and will do so but my current ride has stock airbox with a K&N replacement.  Also the CV carbs are more forgiving to any air improvements than the sliders.

they are on order so hopefully they work, a dynojet stg 3 kit will be going in at the same time as well, and modded exhaust. they are listed on summit as bike specific so i imagine they would fit. time will tell.

Only problem I have with th dyno kit is they used to list 80-82 650's.  80 carbs are way diff.

I thought 79-80 had the same carbs, the keihns with the piston and 81-82 had CVs?

you cant just do pods without doing a jet kit, you will run lean. if your not modding the exhaust you may be able to run just a stg 1 kit, but do some more research as im just getting into these particular engines.

Ive got an 81 650. Would you be able to tell me about how many turns out the air mix screws have to be?

Though I am not running unifilters. Ive got ones like in nuzzi's second pic (not kn).

Just put the pods on not too long ago and havent gotten around to tuning them yet, figured you might be able to give me a better place to start than the "initial setting" in the manual.

All you can do it go from there and experiment.  There are to many variables to tell one good setting.   IMO the idle mix screws wont have to be moved much if any.  Its at speed when u are pulling from the main jets things get diffrent.
