What's so special about this washer? '71 CB500
« on: September 01, 2011, 09:52:36 AM »
#25 below. P/N 94111-12000

#22 is a plain 12mm washer. Is #25 rubber or something?

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Tug I think that is just a lock washer. Dave500 or TT will know for sure so here is a bump :)

That can be done without looking. Dissecting the part number: 94111=spring washer (lock washer, not flat); 12000 = 12mm.

At one time in the distant past, i had nearly all the part numbers for the CB750 memorized. It wasn't too hard as there was a system to the numbers. Standard hardware is as I exampled.

A cam chain is 14401-362-003" 14401=cam chain for all Hondas: 362=CB500/550; 003 = third change of minor importance. For a 750 it would be 14401=camchain; 300=CB750(early); 003=third change of usually no importance.

Working in the parts department, I could get nearly the top 20 parts for most models (back when there weren't so many) without looking them up.

Those were the days...

Man, if I could expunge all of the Simpsons knowledge stuck in my head, I might be able to do something actually useful like that :)

MC Rider that should be 323 not 362 mate, I used to be able to do the same for Meriden Triumphs
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Wow you guys.  That reminds me of Dumb and Dumber, the scene where Lloyd asks the old lady to watch his stuff while he goes and gets some change for a paper machine:

"Ya know, it's true that old people, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose. Now don't you go dying on me!"

;D ;D  Just joshin ya!  That is really neat that you guys know that.
Just call me Timmaaaaay!!!

You are correct. That was a bad example. 362=XL175. But it is the chain for the CB550. One of those shared parts.
