Oil Light Always Off
« on: September 09, 2011, 03:18:50 PM »
Hi guys,

After my rebuild everything was going well (500km in) but now the oil light is always off. I tested the light and it works and I made sure the connection from the light heads into the engine - but without any oil pressure (engine is off) the light is still off and doesn't turn on. Switch issure? Should I check connections along the side?

Thanks!

The old what model of bike and year question  :P  As mentioned look at the easy stuff first and work your way back. Expose the actual light and socket, give it a wiggle, change the bulb etc.  and work your way back. Just played with a couple of oil light issues recently.

If you know the light is good, use a bit of wire to jumper from the wire going to the oil pressure switch to ground. Light on? bad switch. Light off? bad wiring plus maybe (not likely) a bad switch.

Light on after shorting to ground aka bad switch. How do I find this?
