is it possible
« on: September 29, 2011, 08:10:47 AM »
Quick question, just curious, is it possible to pull the head and cyliner jug off the motor without pulling the whole thin out of the frame?  It doesnt look like it to me, not without cutting the frame.  Just looking for a quick answer, might want to replace a few internal things this winter.  Bike is a 77F

Thanks

I can remove and reinstall a motor in 20 minutes without lifting a thing.  10 minutes out, 10 minutes new motor in.  That does not include all the carbs/exhaust/airbox/or oil tank, but does include all engine bolts. My website shows the sling I use.

cutting the frame

Frame kits available around here somewhere (search) if you want to cut, weld, bolt the upper frame tubes back together.

There were some threads in which people removed the motor and placed it back in on a 750. Some have laid the frame on the floor released the motor and tilted the frame back up. Another guy and his wife did it in the living room by sliding the motpr ontp a stack of magazines, and put it back in. Pics are included in both posts.
