The Mini Switch has to run through a relay, the wires from the switch are very thin. I havent finished my electrics as of yet, but if the switch is installed as a ground side switch it should be fine. This switch has been being sold to be used on Harley's starter systems. The hoop just seems to finish off the frame.

So tell me what you think, should I weld the plate on top of the hoop, or under it?

Just remember that the rear brace that you have removed was shaped the way it is to give clearence to the rear tire, you should weld the plate on top but don't be surprised if the tire hits it when riding....

I have another question, Is there any reason I cant relocate the coils to under the seat? Do they have to be right next to the head?

I've read in a few post of people moving their coils under the seat

Why on earth would you need to move the coils? Are they in the way or something???

Yes they are...I have installed a 500T tank, to me it has a beautiful line, but no room for the coils. Now, I can relocate them to just under the tank, towards the front upright, but I have been working toward a "clean uncluttered" look. So I was hopeful to move them under the seat.
Now I have a confession, I havent even looked at whether the wires in the coils can be replaced, I hope so as I know one is ready to break off $:-\$ So Photolar, you must have a point to your question?

You would have to extend the wires, which can be done but not easily or you could get aftermarket coils that use separate wires, the latter could be somewhat pricey. One of my 750's has Accel coils, on which one could add whatever length coil wires necessary. Just food for thought and probably more money to the build...Larry

Been a while but I have been ordering parts and doing some more modifications. I would like to thank member Andrew, who is building a 550, for all the help his posts have provided. I got the starter button idea, and the seat mod info from him

The seat pan fit was really wide for the frame, so as per Andrew, I narrowed it and re-fiber glassed it, and now the fits is perfect. I also picked up a Ballistic battery and now I can finish the electrics.

Ok, so you have seen the 500T tank i got a "great" deal on on ebay. I love that shape and it fits well...that said, the amount of money I'm spending on it to make it usable is getting crazy! After 2 treatments, of drywall screws and the Works, which does work well, the tank has some kind of old sealer in it that is flaking off. So I sent it over to my buddy's radiator shop and he soaked it in a hot tank for a week. That helped but that brought out some rust pin holes on the bottom edge, and now it looks as though I'll have to reseal the tank anyway

Lesson learned...spend the money on a good tank!

So, I just have to voice my frustration...Found a great buy on Craigslist, a 550. The guy sent me pictures, I told him I'd be in his town that day, I drove 3 hrs, with cash in hand....

We had one 400F, two 500F's and three 750F's. Not that we needed all those bikes, but once you get locked into a serious bike collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.
