K7 Throttle
« on: October 13, 2011, 04:47:24 AM »
Hi, Is there really any need for 2 throttle cables, and do I really need a return spring?  Will the bike run ok with one?  My carbs and rubbers are now fitted bike runs, but I cant locate the correct points for the return spring...  Any help would be great... pics coming soon.

Were the carbs apart recently?  If so, the plate that goes between carbs 2 and 3 is probably missing. That is the lower mount for the return spring, the upper is a post on the mechanism where the cables attach. Most all Honda fours use something similar to that.  You can run without the return cable, but make sure there is minimal slack or it can pop off.  There have been a couple threads about the single cable...Larry

Hi Larry, My carbs were of but not spilt.  I will run it with one cable, should I take the cable off at the handle bars (Doh) also how to I adjust the tick over.

Thanks.

Not sure what you are asking about tick over.  Why do you want to only run one cable?  I am doing it temporarily because only the pull cable came on the 750 I have. You would need to remove the two screws that hold the switch together, then loosen the 10mm nuts at the lower cable to gain slack so the return cable can be removed. Then adjust the pull so the cable cannot pop out of the activating mechanism...Larry
