1973 750?
« on: October 28, 2011, 07:27:07 PM »
I met up with a fellow SOHC owner who recently bought his second 750. His first is a 73, build date of 7/72. I saw his gauges and they have the indicator lights on the MPH gauge. The outside container for the gauges are chrome. I thought they didn't come in this year? He is unsure as well.  I can't find any pictures of the 1973 gauges...

Just 70 and 71 had the jewel indicator lights in the gauges on the 750,both speedo and tach. Must have been some switching going on with that one.

Johnie are those new faceplates or just super clean ?.Most of my K1's are showing their age,did not seem to hold up as well as the later years.

His look like an ant farm compared to those clean gauages. But the covers are a solid chrome. Maybe I will head over there to take a pic of them. I am pretty sure the MPH gauge is different then his rpm gauge. I do not remember there being the indicator lights on them.

Yeah those early plates faded badly and as you mentioned really spider webbed. Be sure to tap the clear cover and see if they or it are plastic or glass.Plactic would be first gen.

i know this is gonna trigger arguments, but I recently stumbled onto a '72 that had a unicorn tree, and lights-in-gauge . It didn't appear to be #$%*ed with, and it was nov '71 build.
i was pretty baffled.

I hope they are differant!  Would be hard to know your RPM or speed if they were exactly the same! HA!
