Rushoid, That's cool that your Dad worked for McDonnell Douglas. I had thoughts of trying
to get a job there after the Air Force. I found out, too late, that I could have gone to night
school and gotten my "license" to qualify me. Then, after I got out , I thought about the
"Spartan School Of Aeronautics and messed around not doing that either. McDonnell Douglas, at
St. Louis, wouldn't have been too far away from Little Rock (where I lived at the time).
Yeah, in full military power (that's what they called it, just before afterburner) did see a lot
of smoke on the F-4 but crewing one gets you kinda close to them (know what I mean?). You
get to know every inch of your plane and going down the intakes, before each flight, wasn't for
the claustrophobic. The F/A-18 is a pretty sharp plane and I don't think I've seen the F-22 yet. is it
a twin engine or a single? I mostly prefer the twin engined planes, myself. On that Sunbeam
Tiger, that must have been pretty neat to see (Not a Ford man but, ya gotta give credit where
credit's due.).
On the plane subject, Just wanted to say that, while in the Army Reserves & doing my
2wks summer camp at Barksdale AFB, I was able to go up and look a B-52 over up close. I've
always been totally impressed by the bombers and the B-52 is no exception (same family, you
might say, as the B-47). Better get outta here for now, Bill
