On the way back from a long trip (1500k plus miles) at highway speed I felt my bike lurch and lose power...sounded like 2 cylinders went out.so I pull over look around for a few minutes and fire it back up - everything is fine. It happens again maybe 20 miles later. I pull over and wait a bit then start up again - everything fine for another 20 or so miles. I do this a couple more times till I get home...it seems to go away in stop-and-go traffic and lower speeds. Everthing is fine, very light riding for the next month or so. Now I commute 20miles round trip to work with about 40 percent highway and its back.
2 cylinders seem to cut out, usually on highway, but just briefly and then it kicks back in...once in a while sometimes it seems to get stuck on 2 cylinders so I pull over and it seems to come back after a short while.
I replaced my dyna s about a year ago after it crapped out so Im hoping that its not to blame...again. Im sure its a timing/ignition thing because of how sudden it is and it is clearly 2 cylinders dropping out at a time. Should I be resetting the timing on the dyna frequently? Could it be something else? I did put a lot of miles on the bike this summer so maybe it is due.
Thanks in advance for the input:
