From looking at the pictures, it looks like D.I.D. Japan is stamped on the wheels....if that's the case, I'd say they're great!

Since they are coming from Thailand I would venture to say they are knock-off rims and are not in fact DID rims. Especially not at that price. Now who knows what quality they are if they are knock-offs. The only way to tell is to buy them and try them and report back.

Unless they are heavy construction, an alloy rim is going to be more prone to pothole damage...so keep that in mind.  If you live in a area with lots of potholes or you don't keep your tires properly inflated you can risk damage the chromed steel might survive. Ideally, keep the pressures maintained so you maintain a safe cycle.

I have been eyeing these rims too for my 350f. A little worried if the quality will be good or not. Has anyone run alloys on a cb350f/400f that can compare them to stock chrome/steel ones? Trying to decide if the advantages of an alloy are worth the risk of recking them in a pot hole, because I ride mostly street.

A decent set of alloys will reduce the rotating mass by a pound or two.  That should be noticeable in both handling and acceleration.  As far as pothole damage, they might be more prone, but keeping your tires aired up properly will eliminate that risk.  I'm going to pull the trigger on one set to see what they are like, but I won't be able to report on them until early January when I get back home.  I'll swing them by my favorite motorcycle shop in SF to get their feedback.

If anyone else decides to buy a pair, then let me know your thoughts please.

I went and looked at the rest of his auctions and they look like proper DID rims to me, i have 2 sitting in my shop.....

Any rim that hit a pothole hard will have similar damage, if they {alloy} were that frail they wouldn't have put them on the much heavier GL1000's.... ;)

alloy rims are tough, whos had dirt bikes here?and ridden proper rough #$%*,ive never had a dirt bike rim crack or dent, and they mostly have a few less spokes,a bit buckled or out of true maybe.

EDIT,i just asked the seller what brand or manufacture they are,,standing by.

awesome! :D I think I will be purchasing a set very soon! Would using his black alloy rims and a set of his zinc plated spokes be ok? Or might I run into some dissimilar metal corrosion? I am sure SS spokes would be best but if i buy from the same supplier it will prob help me on shipping costs.

You should be fine with the zinc and the alloy.  There is galvanic potential between the two materials, but it is minimal enough that it shouldn't cause a serious issue.  Just make sure you clean the wheels from time to time.

I just bought a silver set, a gold set, and a black set.  I have two sets of wheels to do, and I'm not sure which colors I want, so expect a set to come up for sale in the next couple of months.  I'll report out on what I think of them qualitywise too.

Consider also that the hole angle/orientation of the rims
has to match up to the angle/orientation of the hubs holes,
otherwise some broken spokes may be in your future.
I dont think you can just put random rims and hubs
together,  even if they have the same amount of holes.
Dont know if thats the case here or not.

Ok so got my front all laced up and looking fine.

One think i did notice though is that the spokes dont sit flush in the hub.

Is this something to worry about? Other then that they look great. Did have to grind down the ends of the spokes to sit flush on the nipple but I knew I would have to do that from the get go.

When I did my 400f wheels in the fall the spokes I got from Buchanan's fit pretty much flush into the stock hub/rim combo. Where they all like that? or just a few? It might be worth while to sort the spokes into the two different bend angles and then compare each individual spoke to make sure they are the same. Maybe there are some odd balls.

I did as well, and they sit like that however I do have a bit of runout in my front rim and I've had it re-laced professionally twice. I used stock steel did rims powder-coated black and Thailand spokes. The rear is perfect.

So thought I would update after having put a few miles on these rims now. I bought the thailand spokes from the same vender when I purchased the rims. The front went together fine. Spokes were long and had to be ground down and the heads did not sit completely flat like the picture above. Other then that they worked out fine and trued up nicely. The rears on the other hand did not work out what so ever. The angle of the spokes were completely off and they would not lace up at all to the rim.

It had been a few months since I had bought the rims and spokes but I contacted the seller and the best he did for me was a partial refund. Annoying but at least I got some money back. Bought a different set off a USA seller on ebay and they were WAY better quality. The heads sat flush and the length was bang on with no grinding! Same price or just a little more then the thailand ones. Wish I got the fronts from him too. The rims and spokes look great and are holding up fine. Only complaint is the black finish on the rims is kind of fading after being out in the sun all summer. Otherwise they are all good!

Fresh after install:

End of summer, slightly faded:

That looks almost identical to how my spokes from Buch's mounted up initially.  Eventially they ended up cutting new spokes and loose lacing the wheel for me to get it correct.

The amount of fade is discouraging though.

this was the seller of the USA spokes:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CB350G-CB360-CB350F-CB400F-18-Front-Wheel-Spoke-Kit-36-PC-900-426-/380477891054?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58963fe1ee&vxp=mtr
Well worth the extra money!

Ya I rode my bike to work every day I could in the summer and it would sit outside in the sun all day. If I knew they were gonna fade this fast I could have stripped them and had them power coated or something before I laced them. The seller offers these alloy rims in different colours too. A colour like silver I can see not fading as badly.

They aren't anodized with a good dye if they are anodized or the paint was bad quality. Good powder coat doesn't have those problems.
Silver painted alloy rims on my '86 Volvo came off a '85 vintage 750 (12 spoke design) and they make the car look good. After 26 years in the sun of California and past 5 years in AZ they have faded, usually evenly unless chemically contaminated, and faded out to white-silver; it was good quality paint and they need refinishing but it takes decades to make them do that.  Now to find 30 year old quality paint today...
