Topic: 1980 CB650 starter!

I have a 1980 Honda CB650 Im bobbing out, runs good, shifts good but.. The starter. It spins up, but will not turn over the engine. I can push start it easily. it just spins and spins and never catches. sounds like a pissed off weed wacker. I looked and narrowed it down to the starter clutch. question is does the whole engine need to be tore down to replace it? If so, Im just going to keep push starting it. Put up some pictures to show my current progress on the body.

I'm pretty sure the starter clutch is inside the motor case on these. It's a pretty big project...

yeah, I have a service manual and thats what its looking like. I have a total of 200 dollars into this running rideable bike. And i dont know if im comfortable tearing apart the entire engine. So push starting it is! I thought it would be a pain to push start but its not so bad with drag bars on it.

Thanks for all the replies, ended up not being the starter clutch. The gear on the end of the starter was slipping off the starters shaft. put some jb weld down in it and smashed it down on there. Cranks over without slipping now! Just need to get my solo seat, make a fender and mount some lights and its done.
