Cb400f to 550 fork swap
« on: July 09, 2015, 07:00:43 PM »
Hi guy another question for you.

I put 550 forks with race tech springs and emulators on my cb400f frame. Ive noticed that my 550 fork have a lot less travel or room for travel than my stock 400. Is my preload to low? Are my 78 550 forks not correct, possibly mismatched. Should I be worried, may static sag is 10mm but the fork are super close to bottoming out, which is why I got new fork spring.

The race tech spring is out in have a preload spacer length of 50mm to get around 15mm preload with 160cc of fluid.

Can Bwaller, Jesse or Bodi chime in??

Cheers

You're right.  That does not look like an adequate amount of travel.
