Even the fact that it's Winter for most of us hasn't seemed to effect prices over on Ebay or locally for me. Are they leveling off or will they continue to rise?

I am noticing some very high prices on clean midyear 750s..fatstripers..

What I think this means is..if the economy heals itself or improves greatly.. we will see high prices.. like never before..
Now is the time to buy.. IMO...

The cafe, brat , bobber crowd aren't helping, every good bike cut up is one that will never be original again, prices will only ever go up, and even faster now that these chop jobs are in vogue......Should also add the guys that only buy them to part out, i have seen some good ones stripped and sold on evil bay.....

I'm amazed at the crazy prices people are getting on ebay for the very low mileage, original bikes. 15 grand for a K4??? My guess is that you are seeing more collectors willing to pay up for the best and most original bikes.

Some of the prices you see on ebay and other sites are outrageous!! For the average guys like us there way out of our range. So if you've already got a SOHC4 you better hold on to it. I know I am

It's kind of like all those old video game consoles I collected back in the '90: Atari, Pong consoles, Colecovision, etc, etc. I'm glad I got them all when I did. I remember getting that stuff for pennies on the dollar practically....

"cafe" = +$1500 to sales price

Honest prices for honest bikes are rare in my area as well. But they are still out there if you are patient. I was bidding on a close to mint CB360 for only $800 in Brooklyn. Buyer pulled it at last minute saying it needed a tune up and cancelled the sale. Fortunately, there is a sales lot in Bayonne that feels 70's Honda's are junk and still sells for good prices. No website though and selection is hit'n miss. That is where i am going for my next bike. No more "bargain priced projects bikes" for me.

Phil check out the ebay CL thread. Its there. Funny part is the engine vin and frame vin were thousands off. Most likely not the original frame and he advertised it as original with only 1700 miles i think.

IMO one of the best ways to find and still have a good chance to get a good deal on these SOHC4 Honda's is get the word out that you are interested in these old bikes. Simply talk to people, co workers, friends, people in the check out line with you, etc. Mr Honda made so many of these bikes in the 70's there still thousands out there. What you see on ebay, CL, etc. only scratches the surface. There are many, many more that people have just stored away in the back of there garage, basement, there backyard storage building and have never listed them for sale at anytime. Pretty much they have been put away and forgot about. In May 2011 I found this 70KO with just over 20000 miles on the clock by talking to people and letting them know I was interested in old Honda's. The PO had bought it from his brother many years ago and had parked it away in his garage and it was less than a hour drive away and he had never listed it for sale. It was just sitting there in his garage. $900 and I loaded it up and brought it home. Oh yea it had a clear title and ran not good, but it ran. All it needed was some TLC and additional $1000 put into it and I was good to go. $1900 and this is what I have now. In my book thats a heck of a deal

So talk to people. Your dream bike might be right down the road from you

I think you hit it on the head. Get the word out that you are interested in these types of bikes. I am constantly telling people I run into how I am looking for these machines. Even with my recent K1 find, I still look. Its part of the addiction.

Dhall, in the first pic, is that of her coming to her new home? or is that after you had her for a while?

Curious if you knew the year when you were going to look at it and your inner thoughts when you actually saw it for the first time? Did you know what they wanted for they bike before seeing it or did you haggle a little bit? Man, if I was you, my heart would have started beating wildly and the poker face would be in effect.. Most likely poorly but still. Is that a Sandcast or a diecast? Still she is a beauty!!! BTW, are you still looking for another great find or has the hunting ended?

Ray, you could of had 2 years worth of entertainment redoing two bikes back to their glory days and had twice the fun riding one every other day! LOL

I think that the price for a CB750 is going to continue to rise. I have one thats in excellent condition and where ever I drive it people have a million questions and say how it reminds them of a bike from their past, even hardcore HD guys at least respect the age and restoration. I live around Boston and there are not very many of these bikes on the road up here. I can go weeks without seeing one. Sometimes I think the problem is that there isn't a large market for these yet and people just don't realize what they are looking at, what it takes to restore one, or how rare an unmolested low mileage bike is. Seems like this cafe racer thing that is going on has opened some eyes but at least up here in Mass. most people are clueless. My 2 cents.
