I'd put a few thou in to group-buy the bike if someone could get Tim Joyce or Jay Springsteen to agree to pilot her.
Take care,
David

Buying the bike would be the easy (read cheapest) part as we all know.  ;)

Campaigning the thing would likely cost upwards of $1000/weekend not including travel expenses, paying a rider (especially either of the two mentioned above  :o) and repairs. Gotta love it.

...from what I've seen, I would guess it is capable of mid 11's...in road race trim...and very little breaking necessary to make the turn onto the return road :o :)
If it works good, it looks good...

I stopped at CYCLE-X a few weeks ago.......when Ken was in Valdosta with Sam and others on this board. Tim at the shop told me the bike was sold to someone from Ireland but was still awaiting the shipping papers and the $$$$$$$ - I gathered the price was in the upper-teens and included help with needed repairs and backup parts.

Apparently Kevin had a big disagreement with Ken and the chief mechanic.......something about swinging fists and a very hasty retreat. Kevin had stalled the bike on the start but had caught the tail of the class going into the last turn on lap #1......then he crashed.  Some will say 'that's racing'.......others will say a small amount of conservative riding (think Dick Mann and the CR750 in 1970) would have won the race.

Ken is going back to drag-racing for now. A lot of very high-performance work was done the race motor including a one-off cam and experimental ignition components. I personally believe the single most important item that contributed the most to the overall motor performance was the relocation of the intake ports. Take a look at our friend John's current work on a similar head to be matched with another custom cam for land speed competition.

Just considering the time it takes developing an engine such as this, 6-8 would be an insult.

That's not to say you ever get your money back out.

I'm with you guys on the cost of things......I have between $6 & $8 thousand in my single-cylinder Triumph Cub landspeed bike, and now am adding a few more thousand to hopefully go a little faster.....OK a LOT faster.  The value is up to the buyer and seller to decide 8) 8) 8)

So my question to Tim at the CYCLE-X shop was if we will see this bike at the Isle of Mann.

So does it stand that Cycle-x is out of track racing now, and the relationship with Kevin is broken?  All this deeply saddens me...

Ken has decided to go with his dragbike at this point. I believe that dragracing is where his passion really is anyway....nothing to get down about. ;)
