Wife and Me talked about it last night and said that's it no more deadlines, period! we're both retired now. and and people that try to impose deadlines on us can piss off.

Stick with it Mick! Sept. of this year will mark 10 years for me after 24 years of smoking. I type this as I sit next to my 73 year old mother who can't take one step without her oxygen hose and only quit last year because she is damn near being an invalid. It's rough for a while but damn well worth it in the end!

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I was at a Christmas dinner with some close friends and their family, my mates Mum has emphysema, she was like a mother to me in my youth and seeing her suffering like that was the last straw for me, she still smokes....

Go for it Mick if you make it you'll start to feel better if you don't keep trying and yes it's a S.O.B. and later you'll notice the smokers will use every excuse not to stop including I'm too old ( my mother in law kept on until 6 months before she died off lung cancer even though she'd been warned about emphysema years before ).

stick at this mick , been 15 or so years since i managed to do it [ only took about 100 attempts ] in a week you will start to feel much better . watch the beer it tends to destroy your resolve !

HAHA story telling again Dave

I got it down to about 5 a day on average for the last couple of months, always smoked more when i was out or having a few beers. Feeling a bit weird and not sleeping well but i'm sticking to it this time for sure....

Simon, not drinking till i get through this mate, it was a no brainer ...

{don't drink much as it is}
