Connection Problems
« on: September 08, 2013, 03:37:28 AM »
Anyone else been having problems, for a few weeks I've been getting this message

Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

Then tonight I got this one.

Welcome to nginx!

If you see this page, the nginx web server is successfully installed and working. Further configuration is required.

For online documentation and support please refer to nginx.org.
Commercial support is available at nginx.com.

Thank you for using nginx.

No messages here, but slow to open, but that might be the network (using the phone).

Let me know if things haven't improved.  I did some tuning this weekend, which messed it up even more, then upgraded the server and did some more tuning and that seems to have resolved most of the issues; at least as far as I can tell at the moment.

Seems to just stall out a lot, won't open or move, just searches. If I right a post cross the fingers it takes sometimes.

Been getting the server error the past couple weeks. When I would get into the site it would not open...just kept searching. Has been OK the last few days now. Thanks Glenn.

I'm getting this one also on the SOHC site.  I thought it was on my end so I did a complete AVG scan, reset browser preferences to factory, then finally a  system-restore to earlier date, all with no luck.

anyone have a solution without me having to use the DOS command prompt?

Thanks!
Mike

Thanks for the report.  Generally, it looks like this happens when the server load gets high - likely when the backups kick off - they last for around 5 minutes each AM (around 5am EST).  I'll be doing some tweaking over the next couple of weeks to straighten this out.
