Topic: Cognito Moto CB750 cafe with GSX-R forks

Hello all,

I'm Devin from Cognito Moto. I've been posting my builds DTT but frequent SOHC4 often to check out the builds so I figured I'd start sharing my builds.

I'm currently working on a CB750 for myself. I plan to make it a 2 up so my wife can come along for a ride here and there.

A few months back I picked up this CB750 frame and motor because it was a good deal.

I will need to rebuild the top half of motor. Has a leaking valve seal.


Found these forks on eBay for $220 shipped. I didn't have a build going on at the time but it was a steal so I bought them.


This is a gas tank I bought for my 550 build but didn't use it so ill use it on this one.

Found this 17 x 4.5" rim on eBay for $100. I like to run modern sport bike tires so this will fit a 160-17

Made these top triples for that retro look. They for the gsxr fork.

I designed and had these stems manufactured. They replace your stock gsxr stem and fit the CB750 frame.

Added Cognito Moto top triple tree, Cognito Moto retro nut for GSXR and Tarozzi riser clip-ons.

Borrowed the wheels from my CB550 since I was waiting for more hubs to come in. Trying to layout the stance. These rims are 17's from a harley.

I used 14.3" shocks I had in stock for the rear.

Cognito Moto hubs are back in stock. These are 100% bolt on and allow you to put a laced wheel on a gsxr fork. Reuses all of the gsxr bearings and spacers.



Now I need to find another rim and get it laced up.

Welcome aboard Devin! Plug and play! I love it. Exactly what is needed for those of us with less than stellar build talent. Chasing tails is not fun. Hoping that you'll also provide information on the Suzuki front ends that we should consider. Please continue with your build thread and provide details, I'll be watching 

Next build will get this style treatment after the rolling bike gets put together. 1975 CB750F. BrandEn is gonna do another nanananana. Tweaking is lurking I know.

I'm attaching a compatibility chart for the GSX-R hub. It works on most gsxr forks.

The top trees I have work on 2005-2010 GSXR600 and GSXR750's.

This is the other top tree I have.





The stem covers all GSXR's. I haven't come across a GSXR fork it doesn't work on.

Your more basic triples are really fairly priced and the retro one looks awesome, especially for that price point. Give me a year to finish this degree and I will be shopping ha

Glad to hear it. One of the hardest thing to do is create a quality product and maintain a reasonable price.

I'm currently dealing with this on a oil can swingarm I've been working on. I want it to be 100% bolt on, use existing oil feed lines, fit 3qts of oil, upgrade to bushing instead of rubber, and have the tubular arms to match the CB750 tube frame.

 

Hopefully I can complete this swingarm on this project.

Since I am basically almost copying what you did with the 550, what size/type of rims and tires you use?

Are you going to use the same/similar for the 750?

since you are doing a rear 17" wheel, what size/type you are using for the front?

The front has a 17x2.75" harley rim with a 110/70/17 tire. If you can find a 17x3.5" tire you can use the more common 120/70/17 tire.

The rear is a 160/60/17 tire on a 17x4.5" harley rim. 

The cb550 has a wider swingarm so this works. The stamped sheetmetal swingarm on the 750 is a bit more narrow and you will need to run a 150 tire. I have not tested this so I maybe wrong.

You will need 10mm offset sprockets front and rear. You will need to figure out the brake anti pivot arm and brake pull lever.

Great work on all the custom parts. I followed your 550 thread on DTT... Is the price still the same for the hub? I forget, how do you decide on a rim with your hub? Will a stock Honda rim work? Or custom?

Pricing is still the same. I have it listed on the site. The hub is 40 hole so that you can use stock rims as well. I have 36 holes as well but they are still in production.
