INPORTANT INFORMATION
« on: April 08, 2014, 01:20:45 PM »
http://www.ngk-sparkplugs.jp/english/techinfo/fake/

my problems of no power, rough idle, etc.  parts store guy sold me fake plugs.  neither of us knew it.  these things fail almost quicker than cheap points and condensors.
still gonna re-gear tho for lil more bottom end and lose the overdrive feeling of 5th

Where would your parts guy even be getting knock-off plugs from? What parts store are you going to? Only places I ever get plugs from are chain stores like Checkers and NAPA.

Also, I giggled.

Can you post a pic of the plug or is this just a story? Are the JEW plugs really cheap?

Didnt I see a thread containing pictures of the original, and the knock-off packaging for a brand plugs? NGK or Denso maybe?
Someone know where to find it?

This info's been out for years and the packaging does have errors that you can ID them with. let me see if I can find that page again.

I would have kept one or all for evidence. You no longer have any evidence of that company doing wrong. I'd go back there and see if they are still selling them, bet they are. The link to the bad plugs is talking about plugs sold in Saudi Arabia.

Yes that info does originate from Saudi Arabia, but it just has better info. Don't go by area, today we live in a global market place.

Thanks! Cool to see it all, looks like that first site may have been padding the info a little.  ;)

Me 2, best thing I ever did for run-abilty on my 750. I have 150 miles on my new ND plugs and my bike has
not had one stuble, burp, or irrattic idle ..warm or cold!  Literally acts like a brand new bike.

right now im running the autolite plugs that i had in my gl1100 when i crashed it.  hesitant to buy another set of ngk at moment.  for the record, my ngk's looked like the one on the right in the above picture.
never ever had an autolite plug fail.  run them in all my trucks, have had same set  autolite platinums in wifes truck for pushing 150k miles never a plug issue
may look into the nippndenso plugs

I had my cb500 running ok on ngk, but it seemed to get weaker as it got hotter.   Like pulling up a steep hill at 5k or so, I would notice it being a bit wheezy.  I read a Hondaman post about Tests he had done with Nippondenso plugs so I tried them.  That bike is much better at all heat ranges.  Now the Denso plugs are all I run

Read the same thing, I know if bike owners made the switch to these plugs they would be VERY happy with the results!  ;)

Somewhere along the supply chain someone got a deal and not from their usual supplier. It's a shame for NGK. A few of the dissatisfied consumers may have gotten  fakes and didn't know it.
The problem is the fakes just get better as time goes by. The fake chinese guitars got better. As people figured out the differences the fakers corrected them.

Good information. I did not know this but I'm not surprised either. My stock of NGK and Denso plugs look OK, 3 types 8 of each. I bought some extra when I had problems with my carbs fouling plugs, now OK.

I have seen a TV show about fake car parts made in China and Turkey.
Safety problem when the actual case was brake pads (Renault) they tested and found that they could not withstand a hard braking from +100km/h. Visible damage and cracking up.

They also showed containers full of fake car spare parts. It is very strange that Europe and USA do not act against these countries were they "allow" copy making of dangerous parts. Official statements are of course  that copy making is not legal, reality say something else.

It is OK if the part is a low price aftermarket part, but when copy parts and pack them in real looking boxes.... completely different.

I've definitely bought fake NGK plugs by accident. Took me a while to diagnose the problem.
