Looking for info or codes for Candy Sapphire Blue?
« on: October 01, 2014, 11:29:57 PM »
I have decided the bike is going to be blue. Blue with a gold KO style stripe.  I have stumbled across the seemingly rare Candy Sapphire Blue. I cant seem to find much on this color the only code type information i have found is floating around in the Z50 world

PB3CC
PB-3C-C

Can anyone else add anything and i mean anything to this investigation? A PPG code would be the cats ass if i could get it  :)

In the Parts List CB500K2 [ED, F, G] (1976) we find on page 3 for Candy sapphire blue Honda color code PB-3C-C.
You can inquire here: http://www.motorradlack.de/en/

I bought new tank and sidecovers from Yamiya in Candy Sapphire blue. My bike had that color from the beginning. A liitle lighter version though, to the turquose. The darker look much better, real Sapphire blue as the jemstone of good quality.

Yamyia has got a new version after my purchase, flake version...... WOW!!! I have not started to use the new stuff yet, I'm still in the adjusting phase when tank has to be removed 1-2 times/month or more

I Googled candy sapphire blue

thats some good info i will see what happens at the paint store in a couple hours.  I live in Canada so shipping paint across the border posses a few problems or companies that just wont ship.  I also dont have time to wait for shipping at this point as im ready to paint now.

Go to your local auto paint supplier and he may be able to look it up.   House of Kolor comes close

Anyone know what House of Kolor candy would get closest to Flake Matador red (a 350f color)?

I have a number of cans of the blue AT HOME but can't remember the Honda code. You also need the correct silver base coat too then a clear coat. I'll be back Sat/Sun. It is a 3 step process so good luck on a single PPG code.....

Your example pics look gorgeous.

Well i have been to the paint store and the PB3CC in many different combinations with the dashes came up with nothing.  even by color name nothing came up. oldest paint code they have for honda motorcycles is 1996.  Another point made is these are a 3 stage candy paint. I have only ever done single stage urethane's. It may be a little to difficult to get a good paint job with my lack of experience.

I had some other colors ready and decided to just to a Base/Clear on this one at this time see how that turns out :

I decided on a mazda sky blue mica  PPG code: 41B sky blue pearl B/C with 69' K0 gold tank stripes

For comparison....

That's very close and much easier. What about Toyota's blue? Honda code will not cross!

The other two contenders were:

2015 Corvette Laguna Blue  G7H / WA135X
- tried to find one to look at in person rather than a 1/2" x 1" paint chip

2013 Ford Focus / Fiesta Blue Candy tinted clear coat
-Love the colour but this is a 3 stage paint blue base, tinted clear, clear clear

Just pick a color you like and go with it, that's what I did and no regrets.

PS.  Corvette Laguna Blue sounds better that Ford Candy Blue!

just buy 3 quarts of the necessary silver base, blue candy, and clear and practice on a trashcan or something.  You will be happy you did.
If it works good, it looks good...
