I'm selling my 1986 VFR700/840 high performance street engine and want to offer the best/cheapest deal to my buyer to ship it.The engine is drained of oil and sitting on it's own custom wooden pallet;I removed the sides and top from the custom wooden sealed crate it was in because I thought it would ship cheapest that way.Can anyone here tell me who has the best deal to ship this engine ?

Greyhound, but they might not take it packed like that.

Think that is going to be LTL on a pallet with a plywood box.

I wonder if they'd take it w/ a few layers of cardboard on the bottom cases shrink-wrapped? I think it would be better to completely cover it in cardboard/box,etc. in the bottom 'hold' underneath the bus like that; I don't want it to get damaged.

I have shipped a frame.  Not at all sure, but I think 190lbs. is over Greyhound's weight limit.
If it works good, it looks good...

Terminal to terminal on Forward Air would be the cheapest way to ship it, look here if there is a terminal in your vicinity.

Hi Josh,
I have already last year, did it on ebay although I wanted to hold on for more $.The engine was mint w/ only break-in miles on it and it was shipped back to the same Ft. Collins,CO. area where the race builder that assembled it had sold it to me amazingly and Dennis Z. is going to be the one doing the work of installing it in the man's bike, fine tuning it,etc. for the new owner. Thanks for asking  :)
