CB750E build
« on: July 25, 2017, 04:27:41 PM »
Have 2 engines in which to salvage parts to begin the build of this engine.
So far one set of cases have been helicoiled main bearing bolts ( good or bad?)
I've picked the best of both cylinders looking at the fins on how many are damaged.
The bores don't matter as I will be boring it for an 836cc kit.
Same with the heads choosing the best of 2.
At this point the cases, cylinders and head have been bead blasted and ready to paint.
Decided to paint the main engine cast iron grey and powder coat the normal shiny things
in black chrome.
Let's see if I can post pics of the work on the head, new to this site

Port work looks good.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I'd have the head milled and jugs decked before painting to insure they're both flat! That will allow you to run an MLS gasket with confidence and avoid any dreaded oil leaks afterwards.

Finished painting the cases, cylinder, head and oil pan, after curing the paint
in the oven I checked both the head and cylinders for warpage with my machinist
24 inch straight edge and both are well within specs.

Well, the last 2 days were boring, just watching the boring
bar go down, then up, reset and do it again ( 30x/hole @0.010mm).
Amazing how much metal is removed to bore for the 836 kit.
So next will be honing to size.

Enough aluminum to make homeade thermite in case you need to cut through something or burn out a stump.
