Fastest bike in your shop - Let's see a pic
« on: December 26, 2006, 06:53:06 PM »
Yes I am in a mood of sorts. Not looking to be a fight, just a MOOD. I think this is faster than a light speed pickle or a Rickman.  ::)

I wouldn't trust a mechanic who didn't test ride my bike after working on it.

92 ZX7R

the R =

flatslide carbs
alloy tank
fully adjustable suspension
close ratio tranny
hotter cams
solo seat

i've seen 155+ indicated but, as i passed a new gt500 the speedo indicated 140 and he said later that his indicated speed was 155 so who knows the top end

mods:
muzzy
beefed up jetting
airbox mod (4 holes about 2 inches each added for extra breathing)
geared a bit lower than stock with 520 chain conversion

the girlfriend's 98 vfr800 definitely gives the zx7r a run for the money but, as i can not take credit for a bike that is not mine... the 7r is my fastest.

i think my next rocket will be a 93 cbr900rr... i like the early 90's rocket rides for their balls out carb'd motors and rounded styling... the newer rockets with their chiseled lines and EFI just don't do it for me.

Thank God for that Tom, for a minute there I thought it was gonna be another 550 with a dodgy speedo, ha ha!

I'm still thinking about buying a mint 1995 ZZR1100 with a lot of Muzzy internals, full Hindle pipe and Dynojet carb mods, I took it for a test ride just before Christmas and it accellerates so violently it actually hurts to hang on, I only took it to 120 Mph (in 4th gear over the half mile long freeway entrance ramp where I knew there were no speed camera's.........) but I've been assured that it'll do 200 no worries, and will wheelie in pretty much all 6 gears................................  :P

Trouble is, if I buy it, I'm gonna test the top-end speed claims, and I have this recurring premonition that either I, or my license, won't survive the experience, ha ha! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

My CBR1000F.  Not quite there with a Hayabusa, but it is still plenty entertaining.

Heffay, the ZX7R is probably the first bike I fell in love with. I never got to ride one but I used to have pics of it plastered on my barracks room walls. I still drool whenever I see a nice one like yours.  8)

Can I have it? Please?  ::)  ;D

The fastest bike in MY garage is prob. my CB750, unless the CB450 ends up being some wicked
ass racebike somehow  :-\ Does it count if my buddy is due to receive his new Ducati 1098 and will be "race prepping" it in my garage ?  ;D

Whoa! Talk about impressive rides! Fastest thing I've got is a simple 80' CB750K. It runs quite well
but, of course , nothing like the others that have been brought up. Since I'm not much for the "Sport
Bike Types", I'd probably lean more towards the Kaw 900 that Daniel posted. Now don't run me out
on a rail but, I've kinda always had a liking for the Big (at the time) 900 Kawasaki Z-1. I took one for a
spin shortly after they came out (a fellow Army Reservist bought one and let me check it out) and was
quite impressed with the power of that big four. Seems like they just keep building them faster all the
time. :o The older I get, the more my body is built for "Comfort" and not Speed. Not that I don't like
to get out and play around now and then. ;D

                                                                 Later on, Bill :) ;)

thanks rush!  i fell in love instantly when i found it on craigslist.  i'd just received my financial aid last year in august and had "cash" available.  i purchased it from the original owner at that time with 33,000 miles.  it has 40,000 now and keeps on running like a raped ape.  and you're right, the styling is amazing and the zx7r race history obviously adds credential...  ;D

EDIT: i forgot to tell you if you could have it or not...

Howdy, Mick.  That is probably a realistic real world figure, maybe a little more.  The magazine tests of the day had them at around 160 or so.  They got slower over the years as they picked up more weight, linked brakes, etc.  Mine is a '90 model.

My (slightly modified...) FZR 1000.
Put out just over 137 rwhp on MC-Xpress dyno.
Mucho fun, neck muscles restricts top speed though.......
Currently under the knife (again  ;))
