CBR 1100XX, flagship of my garage.  Seen 155mph on a high desert highway, 5-mile straight went awful quick.

10 sec bike in 1/4. She will top out over 160MPH!!!! Still breaking it in, so I have only just been over 105MPH so far.

Watch that thing when doing wheelies mate, the frames are known to snap about 6 inches back from the steering head, nasty! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Never heard that. I know these thing are suppose to be the best bad azz stunt bike out there though. I don't do fullish things....... ;) Are you sure?......look at how meaty that frame is..... :o

Yeah mate, they changed the frame on the later models because people were killing themselves on the earlier ones when they thumped the front wheel down hard and the front end parted ways with the rest of the bike. Not a general recall mind, the company wanted to keep it quiet for "legal" reasons, and anyway, if ridden "normally" there's not much chance of damage. I've only seen two here in Oz, but both resulted in a fatality............ Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thought I'd chime in.
My daily driver, 2001 Yamaha FZ1.
Basically a detuned R1 engine, a couch rocket for old guys.  :D
Will do 150+ and sub 11 second quarter mile with a capable rider.
Currently has jet kit with CF Akra slip-on. Dynoed at 132rwhp.
Scary fast, I've only had it up to 135 indicated and it was still pulling hard.

 TIA,
I posed this question on one of the Triumph sites I also hang on, no one heard of such a problem on this generation S3. Early 509 and 595 frames were replaced under warranty due to cracking at the welds from the headstock to the main spars. This is a total NEW beast. The 1050 generation, which this is, as been built to be the best naked out there, but I will keep or warning in the back of my mind when I feel the need to start acting like a hooligan.......... ;)

 THX, Jim

And now for something completely different~  This is not the fastest bike, but it's definitely the most powerful.  It's a fun sleeper that can pull away from a lot of bikes on the freeway.  It's 400cc over stock, for you youngsters that don't know much about old Beemers.  It will pull tree stumps out of the ground. It has a sidecar on it now.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

          Hey Uncle,
That's truly one fine looking Beemer you've got there. I have always been intrigued by the Earles (I think that's how it's spelled)Forks. I've never seen wheels like that, that I can remember. Tell me about them. You been hiding that puppy? Do you park it by the old Indian? Haven't heard anything about that one in a while. You still getting it out and exercising it? You take care and have a good one.

Hey Bill. My 400 is sandwiched between this and the Indian right now...
The wheels are called "Snowflake Mags" and were used a lot by BMW at one time.  If you plan on using them, you need to check to make sure they are the re-inforced type. a Subtle difference that could save your bacon.  They were mostly a conceit and overkill in this situation, but at the time I was a more acrobatic sidecar driver and wanted the extra lateral strength.  Mr Bigshot.  Not worth the effort as I'm sure I could have gotten a spoked wheel w a disk easier.  I'm sure you've seen it, but covered up by the SC.

I just didn't remember seeing those wheels before and thought they just set the bike off really well, that's all. I don't really have anything that would do them justice. I may have seen it, just didn't remember.

1973 Z1 with ATP turbo kit.  Slightly raked frame, box section swingarm, ELR shocks, aluminium rims with stainless steel spokes, turbo pistons, modified oil pump/oil pan, 42mm Mikuni 42mm flatslide carb, Dyna 2000 ignition and more...

Fast, but unstable at very high speed

That's a beautiful bike mate, the original factory Z1's were scary fast but I could never understand the rationale behind the turbo's, the stock frame couldn't handle the 88 BHP (at the crank) of the stock engine, let alone that of a turbo conversion, ha ha!

I had a 1975 model with (supposedly) some factory frame improvements, and I added Marzocchi strada shocks,  progressive springs with heavier oil, an S&W airkit, fork brace, steering damper, tapered steering head bearings and new swingarm bearings and finally new (then) Pirelli Phantom tires, and it was still a pig!

Ah well, in a straight line at least, it was heaven on a stick! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

Very sweet Jeff.....brings back old memories although my Z bikes weren't turboed. They are still killer bikes in my opinion. If the funds were there,I'd hunt me down a keeper to sit beside my CB.
