How many volts does the electric start need?
« on: July 06, 2010, 09:07:53 AM »
My battery was sitting at 11.4v yesterday and the electric start would only work if I had a charger hooked up to the battery. Do I not have enough volts for the electric start?

A fully charged battery should measure at least 13v with no load.  Also, do not run the starter with a charger connected, this could damage the charger.

You don't have enough stored energy.  A fully charged and rested battery read 12.6 - 12.8 V.

Voltage = potential
Current = flow rate

Voltage X Current = power
