Smaller Brake light?
« on: July 19, 2010, 08:34:31 AM »
Does anyone make a smaller brake light that will mount to the stock bracket on the rear fender (on a cb550) at least. I want to keep the classic look, but the rear brake light is...well, gigantic.

This is the light that came on bikes earlier than yours. Yours has the 4 screw lens, these are 2 screw. Not sure if they would be a clean fit to your bracket. Could be made to fit likely.

this link this is the style light i used on my 750. mine came off a norton. if i remember right i just drilled one more hole to mount it. i painted it black and wired her up. i think it looks great. and yes i agree, unless your going for a stock look, the tail light is VERY large.

If you didn't know, that is referred to as the "Lucas taillight" as it was made in England by Lucas for various British bikes, including the Norton and my 68 Bonneville. In your install it does looks good.

yeah ive seen this style light on a few diffrent brit bikes. i like this light for a lot of reasons but one reason is the bulb and lens assembly's are everywhere. i suppose its cuz' so many bikes used them. i bought 2 about a month ago at a swap meet for 3 dollars a piece brand new.. not that i need a replacement yet but its good to have spares
