My wife and I had to leave our basset hound with my parents when we moved to Oz. She loves living in the country, but we miss her.

We were foster parents for many dogs, and our dog (Margaret) taught them bad manners.

This is the face she gives you when she knows you want your chair back.

We even had a foster kitten for a while. The foster dogs weren't fans of it.

well this is my old friend his name is bart we rescued him from the shelter a long time ago when he was a pup.his health has been slipping lately. he had a accident last night took him to the vet and the news just gets worse from there his tumors have spread into his lungs he is on borrowed time now. i love this dog, i'm crying as i type this. he has protected my family and myself.he loves children.i have had  alot of pets in my life but none as faithful and loyal as bart.when i was in the hospital from my wreck for 3 weeks my wife said he acted real weird and slept with my dirty jeans and shirt that she didn't get a chance to wash from my accident.the dog must have missed me but when the time comes i think i will miss him the most.i'm sorry for bringing on my grief but i had to tell someone i cannot talk to my family about it.i can hold back the tears so i'm hiding behind a computer keyboard

My sweet girl, Shelby.  Not a huge fan of the garage but she was a good sport for this picture a couple years ago.  B&W version is one of my favorite pictures.

My little guy Simon. I said no more dogs so we can travel more without worrying about a damn dog at home. I lasted a month after the last one passed away. Can't be without a dog in the house! Cliff. Ooops, already posted a pic, oh well.

It is kinda sad reading this thread sometimes, hearing of everyone who has lost their dogs.  We recently got a new pup after my last dog died last year, she was 11 years old, I'm not sure what happened, I suspect it was snake bite, but I can't be certain, she was fine when I left in the morning for work, when I got home that arvo, she was flat on the ground barely breathing, I went inside to call the vet, when I went back out onto the verandah to get her and take her to the car she had passed :'( .  Anyway my missus had mentioned a few times about getting another dog, I wasn't sure on the subject, anyway we saw an ad for some Cavalier King Charles Spaniel pups, we went to take a look saying that we were only going for a look and we weren't going to get one, when we walked into the house I was greeted by this.

Needless to say I couldn't say no to a face like that.  That was 2 weeks ago, we named him George and he has been home for a week now, and has settled in really well and hardly any accidents around the house.  If only I could get him to stop chewing on everything, oh well, hopefully that will come good.

Here is our boy we picked up from shelter in September. He was a little sick when we got him (systemic yeast infection and probably not very good food), but he is all better now. This is the only pic I have right now, but we take plenty of him, so I will get better ones. He fits our family like a glove!!

Hey Trublue, my parents breed Cavaliers! My daughters show them for them and all are considered Champions. Really good dogs...do have some tendancies for health issues within the breed but no worse or better than most other breeds. Great for smaller living spaces too.

The chewing thing can be a bad habit for them. one of the best toys we have found (and cheapest) is racquet ball balls....the smallish tougher green ones.

This little guy has quite good bloodlines, his grandparents all lived to or are at a fairly old age with few health problems, his mother is 4 his father is 7 both with no major health problems.  His fathers father was a champion show dog.  With his chewing we have a tennis ball for him with holes drilled through it and rope threaded through, he loves them and has destroyed 2 already, he also has a dried roo tail and numerous other toys, the problem is he likes shoes more than his toys.
