Patrick over at Buchanan was very helpful. Quick and easy ordering. Spokes should be here within two weeks. Now I just gotta learn how to lace and true a wheel. :)

Brakes will come later since I can just run what I have for now.

I've gotta dig the bike out and clear out the area so I can get everything organized.

Finally got the bike down to a shop for the last bit of fab work. Took several months because the guy I was going to (best on the island) lost two of his workers, so he didn't have time for custom work, and finally decided to give me a solid no since he didn't know when he could take it in. Texted my paint guy (who already had my tank and side covers) letting him know the delay and and he texted me back that he could do the work. So I dropped the seat and frame (with the engine in it) off the next day. I should get a call in the next few days saying it's done, and I can finally bring it back to finish. He's also cleaning up and painting the hubs, so I can assemble the wheels and finally have a roller.

After that it's just building an electrical/battery box because the battery box doesn't fit with the swingarm brace, then finishing up the wiring, and whatever small stuff.

I'll have pics soon.

Pretty damn sharp.  Is that the final finish (satin) or are you going with a clear gloss coat?

Very Pretty!  Better lo-jack that one so some dumb____ doesn't get away with it.
So, which month are we going to nominate this bike for BOTM?

Glad to see the covers back from paint, as you are no doubt.

Looking forward to seeing everything together...

Frame is still at the paint shop, making seat mounts as well as chopping the rear brace because it's too long for the seat.

I do have a picture of the tank on the frame, but something that I didn't think about arose. The frame is a different shade of orange than the tank. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet, but I'm going to get everything mounted up before I decided if I'm disappointed yet.

My hubs are ready so I'll be lacing them up this weekend.

When I was a kid there was an Ad on TV for gulfpride formula G racing oil. It was just a 67 or 68 trans am Camaro on a road course with full engine noise. I'd love to see that ad again but I can't find it anywhere online.

I like the colors and logo. Forgive me if I posted this before but I scanned through and didn't see it.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Frame STILL at the paint/fab shop. I know the guy isn't scamming me as he's well-known on the island and has an established shop, but it just seems like he isn't prioritizing my work. It's been there for over a year. A little blame on my side as well, I'm perfectly capable of driving down there or even calling him on the phone, but my schedule has been a little hectic and I've been focusing on other hobbies in the free time I do have.

I've been getting the itch to ride again though, so once I get in contact with this guy again I'll use a few weeks of PTO to jam and get this thing together and blasting down the road.

Picked up the frame/engine from the shop late last month (seat mount bracket and a few finishing touches). The finished product was very underwhelming, especially for how incredibly long it took. My dad and I could've done better in half a day. Whatever, I'm just happy I have it back. This is like four months after telling him I was moving at the end of the year (I ended up not moving, but would've been extra frustrating).

Tired of fighting with this rim. Seems like the spoke holes are drilled at the wrong angle. Instead of trying to drill out all 40 holes without messing anything up, I'm just going to bit the bullet and get a rim from Buchanan, since the spokes are from them as well. I believe it was a generic Akront-style shouldered rim, but I'll have to look back in my thread or send a few pictures to them to verify. Once I get a replacement rim I need to lace it and true both wheels. Still have my nice new tires all wrapped up waiting to go. Oh and I need to get tubes.

Body-wise, I think everything's done. Paint, mounting the seat. I'm not sure if my side cover grommets are new or not, I gotta check. Same with the tank rubber mount. Handlebar grips.
https://4into1.com/genuine-honda-gas-tank-rear-rubber-holder-17613-286-000-cb-cl-sl350-cb-cl-cj360-cb500-550/

Electrical, I need to wire up and mount the Hondaman ignition system, AGM battery, new battery box. Clean up the fuse panel. Need to buy a wideband AFR gauge/sensor. Already had a bung welded into the exhaust for it.

Suspension and brakes. I know the fluid leaked out of one of the forks because the crush washer was bad. Gotta replace and refill. Progressive shocks are installed. I'll probably flush the brakes and refill with new fluid. I'll upgrade the brakes one day. Maybe I'll repaint or polish the caliper and brackets. I know dual calipers was on my list at one point, and I think I have all the necessary parts. I know I have brand new braided brake hoses, I forgot who I got them from but I know they're no longer in business. They were highly recommended on the forum several years ago. I'm positive it's somewhere in this thread.

I need to check DCC, 4into1, Carpy's, and probably some other places to see what else I'm forgetting, because I know I am.
There's one, I have to make or buy new throttle and clutch cables. 4into1 has a set of short cables. https://4into1.com/short-control-cable-set-honda-cb550-cb750/

Carbs. I did a sonic cleaning on them and hung them up loosely assembled. I have no reason to believe they've gotten dirty, but I'll blow them out with some air and get them buttoned up with new gaskets. Reviews say these are great. https://4into1.com/shaped-o-ring-float-bowl-gasket-honda-cb350k-cl350-cb500-cb550/

This was more of a way to get my thoughts organized rather than an update post. I still need to get out to the garage and make a checklist of exactly what I need and what needs to be done.

Sorry to keep y'all waiting. I know it's been way too long.

The frame was already powdercoated. I was waiting on fabrication to get the seat mounted. The end product was what I would call "fabrication." Once I get back out to the garage I'll get a picture.

I have a set of crush washers that I bought after discovering the leak. I just haven't installed them (in this case just the one).

Yeah, Slingshot Cycles is where I got my hoses. First time I'm hearing a bad review for Progressive though. A the time of purchase everyone was high on Progressives. Same with the fork springs.

That is correct :( I wish I was better at managing my time and staying motivated. That's kinda how I've been basically my entire life. That and wanting to have something done perfectly so I don't try for fear of failure. I'm working on that.

Typing up an email to Buchanan now. That's what I get for cheaping out and getting a generic ebay rim. Shame because the front is perfectly fine and already laced up, just needs to be trued and balanced. Hopefully I can get away with just replacing the rear, but will replace the front if necessary.

If the front is fine I don't see why you should need to replace it.

Was a pain to get right because I had forgotten everything from what I had done it on the first time. The rim is an Excel I got from Buchanan's. They completed it quickly and accurately, I'm very happy with it.

I think I have to go back and remove each outer spoke to grind down the powdercoating on the hub. It's too thick where the spoke meets the hub near the hole so I feel like they're flexing making it *feel* tight when it's not.

Once I get that taken care of I'll have to make a truing stand, true it, then get the tires/tubes mounted. It's been a while since I got the tires, but I'm 99% certain they're Avon AM26s. After I get the wheels mounted and the bike is a roller, I'll have the room to button up the engine, since it's been sitting on a rolling pallet.

All trued and torqued. Tire irons came in the mail yesterday. Mounting in the morning. Spending all day jamming on it. Time crunch has really come and I have about two weeks to finish, fire, break in, and get it all legal.

Fear of failure is a huge demotivator.

Finally on two wheels though. I'll be spending all day buttoning up the engine. I hope to finish the engine and carbs so that all I need to do is wiring and fluids.

Since my battery would be closing in on a decade old, I decided to splurge on a new battery. Local battery store was next door to the shop doing my tire mounting (tried to do it myself but pinched the tube). Picked up a lithium Shorai lfx14a5-bs12. Appears to be about the same dimensions as the stock Yuasa YB14A-A2 but 4.5 lbs lighter at just a bit over 2 lbs, and higher CCA at 210. I can't remember if I chopped off the battery holder tabs or not. Couldn't find it going back several pages in my thread and too lazy to head out to the garage.

I also can't remember if I ever filled up the fork that leaked. Oh and I should check if the stock battery location will interfere with the braced swingarm. I may need to fab up a basic battery mount to get it out of the way.

I mentioned it before but as I was looking at it again, I really I hate the way the guy mounted the seat. The two bolts that secure the riser press into the seat. I'm glad I saw it last night otherwise I'd have a cracked seat and paint. I don't know if there's enough material to taper the hole for a countersunk bolt.

Anyway, here's a progress picture.

[edit] Also also the bolts on the clip-ons contact the tank so I don't know what I'm going to do about that. I have the DCC billet top tree so I can't mount any handlebars in the stock location. Any suggestions?
